Import duties for consumer goods for legal entities abolished

On 4 December, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karmov signed decree directed on further liberalisation of foreign trade activity and simplification of the order of import of consumer goods to the territory of the republic.
The decree follows the earlier introduced changes to import regulations, according to which, effective 1 December 2002, collection of tax on import of non-food consumer goods from legal entities were to be set at the rate of 10% from the customs cost of the goods, irrespective Trade Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity code and the country of origin.
