Hi im an American-Turk/Egyptians and I've got some questions

What is the Uzbek position on....

Russia? Is it trying to be closer to it or move away from it?

Turkey? Closer or away?

Islam? Is the Uzbek government trying to enforce athiesm or Christianity upon the population? Is the general population in Uzbekistan Muslim or athiest?

And the alphabet, is there a plan to switch it to the Latin script?

Personally I believe that Uzbekistan could be a significant player in the world if it had true democracy, moved away from Russia, and left this pseudo-democracy and chose a western path, while still keeping its Muslim and Uzbek culture/traditions.

I know Turkish fluently and I'm literate but English is my best language because I was born in the US. I don't know Uzbek sorry..Thanks for lookin

You mean in general? or concerning any precise case? actually, in any case, Uzbekistan has no choice mor than be close to Russia. There still Russia has its influence in our region. In many sphere UZbekistan depends on this country.

Well, Uzbekistan has an agreement of eternal friendship with Turkey but after 99(closing of Turkish high schools) there was a slump in their relations, and after that I didn't notice any sincere relations in any sphere...

Governments position on Islam is very strict in the way that it won't turn into fanatism. General population of Uzbekistan is Muslim, but government got very serious on this issue after some incidents with islamic fundamentalists.

And the alphabet, is there a plan to switch it to the Latin script?
We always got many plans, but realization goes slow or not at all. This plan is also one of them and one of the stupid ones. It won't work...
