For fox and others: after registering a domain, you can use it :-)
It works immediately, right after you go to change settings (after you successfully log in) and pick an IP or a forward URL. For instance, if you own a machine that is connected to the internet and has an IP, you can give it a name.

Example: my machine's IP is 195.158.1.39. I have a web server/ftp server or some other services running and would like to broadcast it or assign it a domain name such as megaz.lamer.uz :) I then go to change settings, and where it says IP Address, type in 195.158.1.39.
Right after I click save, I can open up my browser (if I am running a web server) and go to megaz.lamer.uz
The domain service will resolve the host name megaz.lamer.uz to 195.158.1.39 (my server).

Or, another example. I have a homepage at http://www.angelfire.com/hi/Umid/Blah/MegaZ - or some other long URL. To make it easier for my friends to remember the URL of my homepage, I create a forwarding URL. After registering, I go to change settings, and type in http://www.angelfire.com/hi/Umid/Blah/MegaZ into Forward URL. Then, I click "save" and open megaz.lamer.uz in my browser. The hostname I've just created will be there instead of the long URL :-) This is especially useful when you own some space in free webspace providing companies...

(You can open up http://megaz.lamer.uz and see the result...) :) hehe

Plus, many options are given. You can have your domain receive mail for you (mail exchanger), or you can have a wildcard domain (anything.megaz.lamer.uz).

Sanjar: I am testing the site right now, looking for bugs - but for 100% it does work. You can go ahead and check it out. If you have any problems, please feel free to contact me :-)

For now, I just need your ideas/suggestions/bug reports to make the site even more useful :-)

Admiral: I am really sorry to tell you this, but seems like the domain names in .uz zone will no longer be given for free. It has been more than a month since I sent a request form to the owner of the zone - no luck :( No e-mails, no confirmations.
After talking to guys at UzPAK, I've found out that the domains in .uz zone will not be given for free anymore. There will be an official registration for $$$ - a document of ownership will be given to those who purchase a domain.
It is really sad and it does suck big time :(

This is why I started this project :-) Domains should be free ! And they won't stop us ... hehehe :)

hehe man, I guess they do not realize that if they keep barking for money from every volunteer who wants to launch a site in .uz zone, that will bar number of .uz sites from increasing.
That is too much. screw that. u don't have to have .uz for ur site (there are zillions of other domains available)
Only thing u need need to is just to whisper in the ears if some connection up on the ladder, he/she will and can make .uz sites for free. :)

Delo v tom, chto posle togo kak vi vvodite svoy forward URL, vi zabivayete najat' na knopku "Use Forward". Potom, najmite OK kogda viydet preduprejdeniye. Bez knopki "Use Forward" server ne budet znat' kuda napravlat' forwarding URL.

Ya skoro sdelayu stranichku "help" v kotoroy budet vse podrobno opisanno :-) Sorry chto zaranee ne predupredil...

Admiral: I totally agree bro...I heard the price is going to range from $50-$100 for a domain in .uz zone. That's so stupid ! You can get a domain in .com and other zones for like 30 bucks or even lower... Damn !
And about hosting - yes, we still do provide hosting for umidies + for anything related to Uzbekistan. So if you have a new project, I can give you some webspace + a domain in umid.uz (admiral.umid.uz or something else). Or, you can create your own domain in freedomain.umid.uz (sth like admiral.ca.uz or admiral.b2c.uz)
I am going to put more domains to freedomain.umid.uz soon, so that you guys would have better choices :) Thank god I registered some good domains before all the crap started...phew...

Sure. The thing MegaZ doing is right i thing. You don't have to write a mail to Ruster asking for domain. But the thing .uz going to be for payment - it's a fact.
I'm trying to fire up the project of free web hosting but can't dig out some enough time. I'm working for the admissions office at my university. Moreover, I'm not a pro in CGI programming. Programming services for web-hosting will be hard for me. I need some volunteers (yes, volunteer - neither me nor you get money for that). No other provider is going to do that because they need money, not the development of Uzbek Internet. I appreciate all Umid Team projects. They are great. But let's get together. I don't think I would be hard. We are the future, so we must care for this. It'll also improve your knowledge.
MegaZ, I'm with you bro. I'll begin testing immediately as I get my other IP space after 5-6 days. I'm sitting behind firewall right now. :)

Yes, in fact, for the past coupla months I have been trying to put several projects together. All of my works are dedicated to entertainment and electronics in uzb. Indeed, it is a really hard task. having a trouble trying to kill many birds with one stone, I guess .. :)
I think anytime soon, hopefully, I will launch, then I will definitly be seeking for your help.
As for domain names on freedomain.umid.uz, I could not find any appealing subname. I mean all that lamer.uz, club.uz subdomains. I know this is beta project, and I understand that this all is just a beginning.
so just a thought ...
In my opinion: you might wanna consider to add such choices which as follows:
freedomain.homepage.uz (for personal pb)
freedomain.business.uz (obviously)
blah blah blah ... :)

But the thing is, most of the popular domain names were already taken (such as business.uz or homepage.uz), which is why I could not get any good domain names when I registered before...
I will see if I can find a couple more domain names for freedomain.umid.uz
