My Uzbek exit visa expired a month ago. I may need to go to Moscow for a week or so. I am a permanent resident of US and Uzbeki citizen. Will Russia let me leave Russia for USA with an expired Uzbek exit visa? Or will I have to go to Tashkent to get my exit visa?
Yes, they will, because your Uzbek exit visa works only for Uzbekistan. Russia and other countries they don’t carry as long as you have their valid visas. There is no need to go to Tashkent, besides it will take 25 days to get this stupid exit visa. I went home last year for summer break and all these visas and new I-20 form (SEVIS) stressed me so much, if only I knew I would go to Europe or Mexico.
g'd luck

Tank,
Tanker, are you sure? I heard that Russia and Uzbekistan have some kind of agreement and if Uzbek citizen does not have an exit visa they would need to get one before leaving the former USSR region

Lotus, You shouldn't make a forum user an expert on visa issues. With such issues you should directly contact a local embassy who is an authority for such things. Such matters have to be checked, and doulble checked, otherwise it'll cost many troubles. It's a little warning of mine ;)
Anyway, I wish you luck!

CrazyDT,
Thanks for advice. Forum checking is in addition to everything else. Do not worry.

Lotus, As lonas You have Your "GreenCard"-proof as pemanent resident of USA and Your Travel Passport as Reentry permit, You may just get viza to go to Russia, with out using the UZB passport, You have allready GC and TRavel Passport so You do not need any other apssport, at the Sheremetevo 2 , customs see that You have UZB passport also You may give You hard time, but with US docs You will not have any problem as lon as You have viza to Russia. That is best way to solve this matter.
Embasyy:))???
they don't help you. if you ask them somthing they start asking questions like "what r u doing here?, why r u here? what are your purposes... and such bullshits!!

Royal: cc5ff426,
Thanks for info. I suspected there was some exception for green card holders.
Guest: a626bf08,
You are right. Most of the times you can not even get through to a right person.
Anyway, thank you all for input. I decided that I shall go to Moscow and then to Tashkent anyway. So, exit visa should not be an issue as I shall get one in Tashkent.
Cheers,
Lotus
