Ingilizce'de Hungary - aslen Hun Ogur veya On Ogur (On Ogul?)

Bugunun Avrupasinin ortasinda kulturel olarak "ada" gibi bir ulke. Sadece "Finn" ler kulturel ve dil olarak yakin. (In Today Europe, it is a country culturally like an island. As a cultural close connection, they have only Finns.

Her ikiside (Magyar ve Finn), Ural-Altaic-Turkic dil ailesinden, yani Ingilizce de dendigi gibi, kisaca Turkic. (Both of Magyars and Finns languges can be considered Turkic (if we say exactly, Ural-Altai-Turkic language family.)

Here is a web site which is about the language of Hungary today (I think it is a little bit politically biased, but still worth to read.)

http://www.hungary.com/corvinus/lib/hunspir/hsp56.htm

Simdi, merak ediyorum - acaba, Macar'lar bizim buradaki konustugumuz Turk dillerinden bir seyler anlayabiliyorlar mi? (Now, I wonder if Magyars are understanding anything from these Turkic languages. )

Bakalim Macarca'da - "su/suv", "hava/hovo", "ana/ona" ne demek? ve Sayilari nasil diyorlar. "1=bir ?, 2=iki?, ....." ?
(Lets see how Magyars say "water", "air", "mother", etc and the numbers 1, 2, 3, etc. )

water = viz

air = levego

mother = anya

1 = egy

2 = ketto

3 = harom

It belongs to the Finno-Ugric language family, which includes Finnish and Estonian, but its closest relatives are several obscure languages spoken in Siberia. Hungarian is not at all related to the Indo-European languages which surround it, and is very different both in vocabulary and in grammar. Hungarian is an agglutinative language, meaning that it relies heavily on suffixes and prefixes.
The Hungarian language is classified as a member of the Ural-Altaic family (other members of this family include the Mongolian, Finnish, Turkish, Korean and a little bit japanese languages.

MagyaRules,

It seems that the only similar word to our language is your "anya" we say "ana. Thanks for contribution. Could you please translate those words in the thread here with title "How do you say"? I will not ask more. Thanks in advance.

Especially, I found interesting that Magyars too claim that their language has a close connection with the oldest (claimed to be known) civilization Sumerian language. I had heard some linguists in Turkey too had claimed that the Sumer language is actually very connected to Turkic languages. This claim comes from inscriptions of Sumers found in Anatolia. If that tis the truth, there were Turkic language speakers in Anatolia of Turkey today even 7000 years ago. Maybe, better to call this Sumer language as Ural-Altai-Turkey language so that we can also connect Magyar language language of Hungary/On-Ogur) to this Sumers.?
