Iroda Tulyaganova advances to second round of Wimbledon
Iroda Tulyaganova played her first match in Wimbledon match against USA’s Carly Gullickson.
The 16-year-old Gullickson played valiantly on Centre Court against Iroda Tulyaganova before losing 7-5, 6-4.
Gullickson established a 5-3 lead in the first set behind two breaks of serve. Tulyaganova, ranked 41st in the world out of Uzbekistan, battled back and broke Gullickson twice to win the first set.
Tulyaganova broke again in the ninth game of the second set and served at love to close out the match. Gullickson was the victim of two of her 12 double-faults in that ninth game.
