AFC expresses condolences at Foe death
THE Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has expressed its sympathy at the sudden death of Cameroon player Marc-Vivien Foe, who died following Thursday's FIFA Confederations Cup match between Cameroon and Colombia in Lyon, France.

Speaking from France, AFC General Secretary Dato' Peter Velappan extended his condolences, saying: "We, along with the rest of the world's football family, are deeply shocked by this tragedy.

"Our heartfelt sympathy is with Marc-Vivien's family and loved ones, and we express our deep condolences to the player's club, the Cameroon Football Association and Confederation Africaine de Football."

The 28-year-old Cameroon and Manchester City midfielder collapsed to the ground in the second half of the match, around the 72nd minute.

He was still alive when he was taken to the medical centre in Gerland Stadium in Lyon, where he died. Doctors performed cardiac resuscitation for 45 minutes without success. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
