Overview:

A lecture mentioning several points of clarity with regards to the da’wah of ahlus-sunnah and the da’wah of those who oppose the sunnah. This beneficial sitting outlines the definitive matters which differentiate ahlus-sunnah and ahlul-bid’ah.

Our noble brother, Aboo ‘Abdullaah Hasan as-Sumaalee introduces the topic by illustrating the way of the Imaams of the salaf with regards to clarifying the belief of ahlus-sunnah vs. ahlul-bid’ah. A crushing blow to the mumayyi’een who claim that refutation is fitnah,

‘The differentiation of ahlul-bid’ah and ahlus-sunnah is something that the ‘ulamaa have done since the very beginning of time. For when you see them, writing books such as usoolus-sunnah of Imaam Ahmad, the intention behind authoring these books is to clarify the ‘aqeedah of ahlus-sunnah wal-jama’aah. For example, from the usoolud-deen, from tawheedul-ulohiyyah, tawheedul-asmaa’ was-sifaat. And likewise, ash-sharee’ah of Imaam al-Aajurree, again, a similar book with similar structure. And the second reason these books were authored was to clarify the difference between ahlus-sunnah and ahlul-bid’ah. If you were to go and read usoolul-i’tiqaad of Imaam al-Laalikee'ee, you would see the belief of the khawaarij mentioned alongside the belief of ahlus-sunnah in regards to the one who commits a major sin… Likewise you will see mentioned, the methodology of the murji’ah that were mistaken with regards to the belief of eemaan. And if you were to go to sharhus-sunnah of Imaam al-Barbahaaree, you would see that he mentions the Khawaarij and from their signs is that they rebel against the rulers, and from the belief of ahlus-sunnah is that we obey the rulers over us…”

The Signs of ahlus-sunnah in opposition to ahlul-bid’ah:

We implement the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in every matter
We take and implement that which is found upon the sahaabah (radiyallaahu 'anhum)
We busy ourselves with Tawheed
We do not sit with or listen to ahlul-bid’ah
We desire to join the Jama’aatul-Muslimeen (upon the sunnah).
We bring to life the sunan of Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).
We do not stick blindly to any speech other than the speech of Allaah and Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).
Enjoining the good and forbidding the evil
We use hikmah in our da’wah
We give importance to knowledge built upon the Qur’aan and the sunnah and the athaar of the salaf and acting upon this
tasfiyah wat-tarbiyah (Purification and Education)

An instrumental question and answer session for Muslims, new and and old. Shaykh Muhammad al-Anjaree establishes some of the usoolud-deen as well as fielding commonly asked questions. A good reference point for introductory Islaamic education. The lecture is a fine audio compliment to the superb question and answer essay: Take Your Creed from The Book and The Authenticated Sunnah by Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Jameel Zaynoo.

The Questions:

What is the foundation of the Religion?

Why did Allaah create the creation?

How do we understand Islaam?

How do we know the truth when there is a difference of opinion?

Who is the best of mankind after the Prophets and Messengers to this day?

What is the thing that is compulsory for the one who will be held accountable for his actions?

Who is the best of the Companions and who is the most beloved to the Prophet (sallaAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)?

Is the many numbers (of a group) an evidence of the truth?

What is the meaning of bid’ah (innovation) and what is an example of it?

What are the conditions of the soundness of actions?

What are some of the books of the salaf and the people of sunnah regarding ‘aqeedah?

We are group from amongst the young men, there comes to us the issues of ‘current affairs’ but we disagree, how to we resolve these issues when difference occurs?

What are the signs for the one whom Allaah intends well?

Where is Allaah?

The hadeeth of the slave-girl, did she say that Allaah is above the sky or did she indicate it?

What should the youth do when the one group of ‘ulamaa hold a certain position and another group of ‘ulamaa hold a different position.

What can be said of a person who calls himself Salafee but continues to associate himself with the people of hizbiyyah and innovation?

Is there any evidence in the Qur’aan about celebrating the prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)?

The ayah in the Qur’aan, “if you obey most of the people on earth…” does this apply to the Muslims or is it general?

Shaykh, you mentioned that the one who hates that which Allaah has revealed, even if he hasn’t acted upon it then he has committed kufr?

If my husband is not fulfilling my desires and wants to take a second wife, can I advise him against this, fearing that my desires will not be fulfilled and I may fall in to fitnah due to this?

I am looking for a marriage partner who is on the salafee da’wah. However there isn’t anyone who I am my parents are in agreement upon. Rather the ones they are happy with are tableeghees and others who are on bid’ah and jaahil. My parents are very culturally minded and would never agree to me marrying anyone other than a Pakistani. I don’t want to hurt my parents, but I want to preserve my deen as well, please advise me on my rights?

What is the correct understanding of the hadeeth, “the seeking of knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim.” We see from our brothers that they apply this to themselves leaving their family in this country without mahram and go to other countries for long periods, is this correct?

Is it allowed for a wife to have a difference of opinion with her husband?
