What does Islam preach about miscarried babies or any small child that dies? Some religions teach that babies will go to Hell. I believe babies are innocent. I am curious to what you believe.

Although i am not Islamic scholar i try to answer your question according to my knowledge.

Sorry, i did not get what do you mean by miscarried babies (i am not good in English) ? Thats why i leave this part of the question unanswered.

According to the Islamic teaching ( or just according to the Islam) babies are born as are muslims, but their parents make them christian, jews or infield ( It is written in the Holy Qura'n, but unfortunately i don't remember exactly what chapter and verse is that). That means whoever comes into this world, he/she comes as a muslim, without any sin. In Islam there is no such a teaching that a child bears its parents's sins or responsible for others deeds/sins. Islam does not preach, unlike some religions do (or at least one religion which i know), that everybody who was born a sinner. Islam says None is responsible for others sins, none bears the other's sins. And until children reach their mature age ( i mean when they can understand what they are doing and why they are doing, and understand what will be the outcomes of their deeds, in Uzbek we call it "Balog'atga etish" but i can not remember English translation of this word right now), untill that age they are not responsible for anything, their is no sin for children. And if a baby dies not reaching that age, there is no counting of his/her deeds on the Day of Judgement. They will not be hurt on that Day. And their place Hereafter is in the Heaven. Wallohu A'lam.

I hope i could answer to your question ( or at least to a part of it).

And Allah knows the best.

Assalamu Alaikum Xotin,
Welcome to our forum.
You asked two different questions, and I will try to answer them, but I'am also not a scholar.

According to Islam, abortion is strictly restricted. Because after a several weeks since conception (do not remember exact time) God gives a life to baby, fetus becomes a human but didn't born yet. Parents of this baby are responsible for the rest life of unborn foetus. In case of abortion, the parents of baby become sinners. It's the same sin as murder.
But abortion is allowed in certain cases, when the further carriage of foetus seriously threatens the helth of a woman, or another such cases.
In case of miscarriage, when it happens itself but not because of the fault of parents, parents could not be blamed in evil.
In all above cases, unborn child will remain as innocent as angels.

As to small died children, they will also remain innocent and it's explained in above post.

Moreover, according to Islam belief, this children can ask the God, a mercy for their parents from God. They can ask for shafa'at (do not know how to say it in English)

This life is an exam life. With death of small and beloved children Creator is putting to the test the parents of the baby. And if the parents of this baby behave with patience and resignation, Creator will reward the parents of the baby in Judgement Day, and He will return those small children to their parents in the Paradise. We all know that, there won't be any birth and any children in Paradise, and no one can have children, accept those parents who lost them in the Earth. Those parents can enjoy beloved child laugh forever in paradise, because loosing a small baby is one of the hardest exams. Remember Prophet Abraham a.s.

Peace,

wa'assalam.

P.S. Pardon for my terrific English

WOW!! That is EXACTLY what the Mormons teach. The age is called in English, "The age of accountability". The LDS christian church is the only Christian church that doesnt preach that children are born sinners. I am glad that church isnt the only one!!

Hi there.
I just want to correct my mistake in my previous reply where i said
" According to the Islamic teaching ( or just according to the Islam) babies are born as are muslims, but their parents make them christian, jews or infield (pagan)" . I asked some people and they told me that this statement might be from the Hadises of Muhammad SAW, but not from the Holy Qura'n. I hope you understand what is the Qura'n and what is the Hadis.

I do not know what mormons say, but islam scholars do not recognize mormons as christians. According to them, LDS is a heretical sect of christianity.

This is what i found out about abortion.

According to the understanding of one Hadith, the soul enters the body on the 120 day upon conception. The Fuqahaa have ruled that it is prohibited to abort after that, irrespective of any circumstances. To abort before 120 days without a reason valid and acceptable in Shari’ah.

A reason valid and acceptable in Shari’ah, can only be ruled by an upright, pious and competent Mufti.

and Allah Ta'ala Knows Best

Yes babies are Innocent.

As to small died children Teh Quran says that like "Vildanun muhalladun" .

"Vildanun muhalladun" is means " eternal child " from this point scholars says that

miscarried babies will go to Jannah(Paradise)

(But God may Examine us but we cannot)
Pardon for my English
