Iran U19 Grab Indian Title

Monday, September 22 2003

IRNA - Iran's u-19 national team under the management of Mr. Hamid Alidousti won the JRD TATA International cup in India.

Inthe final match, Iran defeated Uzbikstan 2-0 behind goals by Milad Mirdavoodi (3rd minute) and Nader Ahmadi. Mirdavoodi also became the best goalscorer of the tournament with 5 goals.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Uzbekistan came to finals through two victories over two Indian teams and two draws with Bangladesh ( :!: ) and Iran ( :!: ).
Our players played draw with Iran during the tournament before and in finals they LOST!!! :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:
They played draw with BANGLADESH!!! and IRAN!!! This already shows that our team has very UNSTABLE plays, even though they have BIG POTENTIAL, in my opinion the COACH SUCKS. They were leading 3;0 in the match with Bangladesh and then 3 consencutive scores from Bangladeshi side and DRAW!!! This shows us that our coach SUCKS!!!!
What are they going to do in the WORLD CUP if they cannot secure their victory from BANGLADESH!!!! :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Jamshedpur, Sept. 22: Striker Milad Midavoodi displayed superb form helping favourite Iran to outclass Uzbekistan 2-0 to win the JRD Tata Cup four-nation invitational international under-19 football at JRD Sports Complex here on Monday.

Midavoodi, who emerged the highest scorer of the tournament with one goal each in five matches — including four league encouters and the final — to put his side into the lead in the 3rd minute into the match played on a water-logged field owing to heavy rain just before the match.

As Midavoodi and the Uzbek custodian Alexander Lobanov rushed to meet a midfield pass, the latter lost his footing on the rain-drenched pitch and Midavoodi slotted the ball into the net with ease.

The soggy field condition, due to rain that forced start of match to belayed by half an hour, made it difficult for both the teams to retain posession of the ball.

However, Iran took the charge over the game right from the word go and used the long balls to dominate the first half.

Uzbek failed to convert a close scoring opportunity just before the break. Shakhboz Umarov missed an easy header off a lob across from Sadriddin Adbulayev.
