We share the following article as it has touched our hearts. We hope this will help us not
forget the sufferings of innocent victims in Palestine.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Charley Reese - The Orlando Sentinel - 11/16/2000
You're probably wondering what it is these Palestinians over there
want. Well, even if you are not wondering about it, I will tell you
anyway. They want the same thing the Founding Fathers of this
country (USA) wanted: freedom.

You see, in 1967, Israel fought a war with Syria, Jordan and Egypt and
won it right handily in about six days. In the process, it occupied the
West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. Jordan had illegally
annexed the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Egypt controlled Gaza.

The past 33 years, the Palestinians in those areas have lived under
Israeli military occupation. Israel has no legal claim to any of their
territory, including East Jerusalem. The United Nations has passed a
number of resolutions upholding the Palestinians' claims and their
right to self-determination. Bitter Harvest by Sami Hadawi has a good
account of these resolutions.

Americans, of course, do not know what it is like to live under military
occupation. Palestinians must at all times carry special identity cards.
Their cars must have a special license tag. They effectively have no
rights. Their land has been confiscated and Jewish settlements built
on it. Their own houses have been demolished or blown up. Olive
tress hundreds of years old have been bulldozed. Palestinians
frequently are placed under "closure," which means that they cannot
travel to get to their jobs. Often they are placed under curfew, which
means that they cannot leave their houses for any reason.

You cannot do anything but sit inside your house until your foreign
occupier gives you permission to leave. Whenever they protest these
indignities, some are shot dead, and even more stringent punishments
are imposed on the survivors. The Israeli human-rights organization
B'Tselem has documented much of this abuse, as have Christian
observer groups.

During the most recent upheaval, according to the British newspaper
The Independent, 191 Palestinians have been killed, and the wounded
number more than 5,000. The same article states that 24 Israelis have
been killed. Snipers have shot many of the Palestinians, including
children. Amira Hass has written poignantly of this practice in the
Israeli newspaper Haaretz. Israel recently has been condemned by
Amnesty International and the United Nations Commission on Human
Rights. Physicians for Human Rights recently condemned the use of
excessive force by the Israeli Defense Force

A British newspaper editorial recently observed that if the Palestinians
were black, the world would be united in denouncing Israel as a rogue
state. Unfortunately, the Palestinians are not black. Moreover, the
Israeli spin-doctors are so skillful and the Israeli lobby is so powerful
that they have managed to convince most Americans that Israel is the
victim of aggression.

In fact, more American sailors died on the USS Cole than Israeli
soldiers during the recent fighting, as of this writing. Apparently
Israelis define aggressors as 14-year-olds armed with slingshots. I
think that any man who can frame the face of child in his telescopic
gunsights and kill him is a filthy animal who doesn't deserve to walk
on this earth.

I've heard many tragic stories of Jewish children being shot by
soldiers during the Holocaust. I fail to see any difference between a
Jewish child being shot and a Palestinian child being shot. I fail to see
any difference in the children. I fail to see any difference in the
soldiers.

Americans who fail to speak out against these crimes being
committed against the Palestinians with our money and with our
government blocking any relief by the United Nations are accessories
to the crimes. Remember: There is a God. And, sooner or later,
there is always justice.

Da, vse eto pechalno, no uvi ne novo :(. Eta situatsia dlitsya uje ochen davno i malo chto menyaetsya.

I'm worried about the future of the Palestine. I has been following the recent violation escalation in Palestine and been able to see how unfairly Israelies treat the Palestinians. Someone is right to say that this old story and a lot have been said and written. I just want to give a small comment on the one paragraph from the above article.

Author states:

"Moreover, the Israeli spin-doctors are so skillful and the Israeli lobby is so powerful that they have managed to convince most Americans that Israel is the victim of aggression."

I strongly agree with the author's mentioning of the Israeli lobby . People who have right to make desicions in this case in my opinion have more than only political and strategical interests.
The way typical American will look at this issue may depend on the news coverage from "well known" CNN who is a wiz in distorting the information on purpose and by mistake.( so that CNN can claim that any mistake is accidental they once in a while do silly mistakes like putting President Akaeyv picture on the top of uzbek flag, anytime they can blame mistake on the typos or staff, very smart isn't ?)

So, you are regular American who may not read too much newspapers and maybe rely only on TV news. What they say is just giving your a numbers of killed "mostly Palestinians" and sometimes how Palestinians attack, notice not Israelies (I would like to see the reaction of the americans if they saw how father and son were shot) . And that's all. No public discussion how much force Israel is using and no analysis on the history of the conflict and occupation either.

I hope you got my point. The support of the Israel may be ensured by some high authorities and american politicians who can have very "close" ( accented) relationships with Israel and its people. And it's not a problem to get the support of the rest of Americans if you have power over the media and you keep their contolling package of stocks.

This is just my opinion. I don't have any facts to support my thoughts. But it is one way to make sense out of this unfair treatment of the Palestine and why US have been , are and will be supporting Israel.

May God give us peaceful life!

Ravil

I don't know how true it is. It is always better to listen to both fighting sides, than to consider just the opinion of one particular side. It might, somehow, prevent you being bias towards the side you like. By clicking here (http://www.jewsnotzionists.org), you can see what some Ortodox Jews think of it.

DonJuan :)
unfortunately a lot of people, well mostly americans who are raised by television believe Media more than their own parents
And looking at the issue from two different perspective would give better picture of what is really going on. It's simple as that, close one eye and see the difference your seeing range is a lot smaller...and you miss out so many details...just like that
DonJuan thanks for the link bro..I hope now it's going to make people understand what is it ALL about.
If I were the one who rates the MediaCompanies I'd give a "negative" CNN monster...which always seem to fuzz the picture with it's so called "live and contemporary and unbiased" news...Nobody even wondered about the scene where Muhammad-12 year old kid gets shot..even though there were yelling stop shooting. Where is that CNN , did they miss it out? Or pretend they didn't see it? Who knows who's behind that Monster..but someone who benefits from distorting the truth with it's mere words...
Bill Clinton, so compassionate about Peace Talks ne odnogo slova ne molvit a kogda dvoye Israelskih soldat ubiti..to on srazu "SROCHNIY PEACE TALK" nachinayet...a o chem on dumal pered tem, o tom chto sotnya palestinsev ne stoyat jizni 2 ih Israeltyan, eto nazivayetsya "Zapadnaya Demokratiya"..
a mojet Bill dumal o sovsem "drugom...o momente s Monikoy" ;) uzr chiday olmadim..shutkasiz
Mda, i don't think UN and USA will ever do anything against Israel, even though the whole world is raging against Israel state (not jews). As others mentioned Israel is the only state that does what America says...and all the rest of Arabic penunsila they don't give a sh_t about it, because they know what is the sole purpose of USA. That is to divide Muslim countries and set up conflicts and hatred amongst them...sadly
I know that by talking here nothing is going to change..nikogda...but at least we'll know the truth behind the plots.

Thank you, Someone for referring to the web-site that I was actually looking for. I was wondering what zionism has to do with judaism.

I 'm going to look throuhg the articles in this website surely, not to be biased next time. But one thing that still bothers me that the Jewish fellas on my campus seem not to see the difference between Zionism and Judaism. Any negative comment against zionism is considered to be the offence for their religious beliefs. Why?

I hope Americans will understand the difference someday.

regards,

Ravil.
