I have an online web diary, and the other day, I posted a poem by the Russian poet Yevtushenko. Someone wrote a reply in my comments section that says:

Ne hetite le koife? Da! Ja nemnoga govoru po Russki!

I have no idea what this means, so I was wondering if someone could give me a quick language lesson. :)

I really, really hope I don't come across as sounding stupid. I don't know a word of Russian except 'dosvedanya', and I'm not even sure what that means. [blush]

Thank you all so much for your time... I look forward to hearing from someone on this.

Yay!

Thanks for your reply! I'm very grateful. Is this Russian, or some dialect thereof? I couldn't find the words in any online Russian->English dictionaries. It was driving me quite mad.

Your time is greatly appreciated... For a while, there, I thought it might actually be -important-. :)

Cheers,

ephy

ephy, the reason why you weren't able to find the above words in a dictionary, is because they are both spelled wrong and are written using latin alphabet. The correct way of writing is like this: "Не хотите ли кофе? Да! Я немного говорю по русски!". In latin alphabet it would look like this: "Ne hotite li kofe? Da! Ya nemnogo govoryu po russki".

Seems like whoever wrote the above has just started to learn Russian :-)
