I am against banning for whatever reason there is. I understand that there will be some ass holes like Basmach trying to abuse our message board. However, that is not a valid reason start banning people. There are some good things you give up to get better things in return. Sometimes you have to tolerate stuiped messages to get intelligent ones.

Why should we ban? Is it because we are afraid of them or are not we patient enough to hear what others say about us? I think, no ban should be allowed, it does not matter who says all those words which we might not like, but as long as they comply with democratic principles of the MB (i mean no cursing or insults on others) they should be allowed to post in our board.

Do NOT ban.

Banning proves only defence. And if someone does not like other's messages, it is SIMPLE to ignore.Does not like does not mean get rid of. Imagine how many people would be gotten rid of just because someone did not like them.

In addition, if a person is intelligent and courageous, does not necessarily mean he can protect him/herself by the power of word. There are many unproven unjustices people try to avoid by using anonymizers. So, let them use it if it generates ideas and helps to eliminate fear of free expression. And in present conditions we do have that fear, don't we..a little?...much?

Ok. Here we go people:

Options we have so far:

1.Ban the ip address of original offensive poster.
(But this will not solve the problem because they will be using anonymizer instead and still be bad mouthing and harassing Message Board).

2.Ban the Anonymizer.
(But as Sanik pointed out on previous thread it will reduce traffic to Umid.uz due to some people's convictions and desires to stay anonymous. Hence, they will not be posting what they actually think for the fear of being traced and identified. Since we do not want a traffic to go down on our site and promote equal participation, we should abstein from banning anonymizer for the sake of our own people).

3.Bomb the heck out members.boardhost.com/tajikistan with subscribing them to alt.agriculture.peru :)
(This is not the answer as well.This can provoke retaliation from the other guys subscribing us to some other weird newsgroup so we'll battling day-in and day-out which is tiresome.

4. Complain to Postmaster of original poster saying that a client at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is involved in disseminating hatred and asking him to take appropriate measures in limiting his access or issuing a warning.
(I don't think this will work because most postmaster don't give a damn what's going on and all complains go straight to /dev/null)

5.Start posting messages on their site until they get sick of it.
(This, might work to a degree. I was on their site posting messages a while ago when Mr.Mirzo-Petuxillo was lingering our site calling people names. I started mail bombing them in Persian until they got sober and started appealing me to stop posting.
So, if we all start taking some proactive measures, perhaps, quite perhaps those mentally challenged people like Mirzo will drop dead and leave this site alone.

There are a lot of problems we need to discuss about our country, without being known to BIG BROTHER.

In this Discusion Board, we aimed to discuss the ideas, but not the persons. Because almost everyone is using different nicknames, as ordinary user, I cann't see a big difference between anonymous and non-anonymous authors. So, I am againist banning.
By the way, what the purpose of banning anonymizers???
-Is it to be always able to trace them & see who and from where the message was sent?
-Or to prevent people, like Basmach to enter the Umid Board? In this case, he can do it by simply not using the anonymizer. And he can use differnet servers to enter the Disscussion Board. Banning would not be a big problem for him, unless you ban all the servers of that particular region because of only one idiot.
So, in conclusion, my opinion is NOT TO BAN !!!

I think U can't put Ban an all sites.

There are tons of anonime sites letting to use thier services and loginn through thier server. So you have to ban all sites and proxies.
And this is impossible to do, unless u use some programm tracking up to the pc.

Of course the possible solution may be to enter priory registration to the message board, so one should provide valid IP and choose some nick which will be used constantly to login. But this will limit access to other guys besides those from "umidies". And i think U won't hear anymore some good discussion, cus of IP being tracked.

To put the ban also means to admit defeat. To isolate ourselves.
