What is the Islamic understanding of the last few hours of the Isa (upon him be peace)'s life?

Question:
What is the Islamic understanding of the last few hours of the Isa's (a.s.) life? I know that Allah did not allow for him to be crucified, and lifted him up before this could happen (peace be upon him). I was asked (by another Muslim) when precisely this happened, i.e., did Isa (peace be upon him) suffer through the type of abuse/beating that is being depicted in the film?

Wa `alaykum as-Salam wa rahmatullah:
We know from hadith that our liege-lord `Isa, upon him peace, was raised as he was coming out of wudu' and shall descend again in that very state, with water dropping from his hair and without mention of any suffering on his noble features. Of more than this we have no knowledge except that the substitution of the other person took place before the arrest in the garden of Gethsemane.
And Allah knows best.
