Hey guys,
There is a company looking for translators/interpretors in NY/NJ areas. I am going to copy and paste all information I received. If you or somebody you know is interested, please contact the company directly. Also, please feel free to forward the information. I already thought about using people in Uzbekistan for written translations. The company needs people in USA.

Bowne Global, a major interpretation company, is currently looking for people who are fluent in Uzbek and English for interpretation/translation projects in NY/NJ. No experience is necessary- we will train. It is a good opportunity for a person who speaks both languages, has a flexible schedule and would welcome an "extra" source of income. I was wondering if you could help me find such a person. We expect an increase in volume of our Uzbek oreders, so I might need more than one person in the nearest future. You will find more information in the attached flyer. Please pass it on to whoever might be interested. Thanks in advance for your help. Please give me a call and I will be glad to answer any further questions. Cordially,

Anna Shipilova

Bowne Global Solutions, Interpretation Services is currently seeking bilingual individuals who are fluent in both English and Uzbek/Russian languages.

Where and when would interpreters work? Interpreters may be offered assignments in a number of different settings including court hearings. Most of the assignments occur during normal business hours, Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm.

Who is eligible? Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Applicants with work permits will also be considered.

On what basis do interpreters work for us? Bowne interpreters work and are paid as independent contractors, therefore the number of assignments offered depends on the need for each language.

We are currently recruiting interpreters in New York and New Jersey.

If you are interested and for more information, please contact

We are currently looking for Uzbek interpreters nationwise actually, so we can definitely use more than one person. For now, we will need them "face-to face", but we expect an increase in Uzbek orders due to new contracts, that are on the way. The future projects may involve translation, but as those are mostly government contracts, we will only be able to hire US permanent residents (and citizens).

I am responsible for NY/NJ area and often have to travel interpreters from other states in order to fill my cases in immigration courts in NY. So your help will be very much appreciated.

Do I need to send you new text for the announcement, or you can use the flyer? Please do not hesitate to ask if you have further questions.

Thanks a lot,
Anna

another thought - this may also be a great opportunity to get started as an interpretor and then get into other positions with those government contracts.

Badbashara: here is what I would do - call Anna and tell her that you are a student. Explain your situation with work authorization and see how it goes. If it works out - great, if not - you did not lose anything. Good luck!

Additional info about the job from Anna Shipilova:

There are three steps involved before I can use the person: 30 min over the phone test, briefing by one of our senior interpreters and a viewing of an actual court hearing for immigration court orders (the main bulk of orders for now). This last step is a little trickier for a person who lives in South Carolina or Wisconsin - areas where we have very few court locations. This is not to say that I can not use them- just it will take extra time for those folks to qualify. I guess my best bet are people who live in big cities, where we have courts, or big states like Florida, TX,CA, PA, AR etc where I am likely to give them more work and the whole process is just easier.

Hey guys,
This is me again with the same request. Can you please send a link to this link to everyone who maybe interested. Spread the word around. There maybe people who are looking for this opportunity.

Dear Nilufar:
I was out of touch for a while, but our situation with Uzbek interpreters
becomes drastic. We lose hundreds of dollars every time we have Uzbek
orders.
Let me describe you the situation one more time and may be you could think
of somebody or willing to help again.
We are in immediate (and ongoing) and desperate need for Uzbek language
interpreters for immigration court hearings. We have a contract with
DOJ and
service courts all over the country. Right now we have two open cases for
July 20 in San Francisco and Denver and none of our few Uzbek interpreters
is available to take those cases. We offer $400 day rate for
interpreters to
travel for cases that rarely take more than 2 hours to finish. We also pay
all your travel expenses. Qalification process is fairly simple: we ask
you
to take a 30 min exam over the phone and fill in some paperwork.A person
needs to be a greencard holder(or have work permit in the US) or US
citizen.
It should not take longer than 5 days for us to complete the process.
So if
you are interested or think you know smb. who can do it, please let me
know
ASAP. If you would be so kind as to post this message again - I would
really
really appreciate it. Right now I can easily travel an interpreter at
least
3-4 times a month - so it is a pretty good opportunity money-wise. I am really greatful for your help,
