"Allahu Akbar. We have received reports that the new moon of Ramadhan has
been sighted in Libya. Therefore in accordance with the hadiths of the
Messenger of Allah (saw) fasting will commence on Sunday 26th November.
Muslim reported on the authority of Abdullah Ibnu Omar (R) that the
Messenger of Allah (saw) made mention of Ramadhan and with a gesture of his
hand said: "The month is thus and thus. (He then withdrew his thumb at the
third time indicating 29). He then said: Fast when you see it, and break
your fast when you see it, and if the weather is cloudy do calculate it (the
months of Shaban and Shawwal) as thirty days."
Bukhari reported on the authority of Ibnu Omar (R) that the Messenger of
Allah (saw) said: "The month consists of 29 nights, so do not fast till you
have sighted it (i.e. the new moon), and if the weather were cloudy, then
complete it as thirty days."
As these hadith clearly indicate, even a single sighting of the moon is
sufficient for the whole Muslim Ummah to begin the fast. However

as-Salaam 'alaykum wa-Rahmatullaahe wa-Barakaatuhu,

Dear Brothers and Sisters may Allah(swt) make your iyman and taqwaa strong.Glories and Praises be to Him(swt) who created us to Worship Him(swt) Alone and made us to reach this Great month of Ramadhan.

Du'a of iftaar: "Allahumma laka simtu, wa ala rizqika aftartu, wa bika aamantu, wa alayka tawak-kaltu, zahaba al-zama'au wa ibtallatil-uruwq, wa thabatal-ajru, insha'Allah
( O Allah I am fasting for you and breaking the fast with your Risq(provisions), The thirst is gone, the blood vessela have become moist and the reward has been established with the the will of Allah.
Niyyah - the Intention
It is Waajib (compulsory) to establish the niyyah before the Fajr prayer for
the compulsory fast (i.e. the fast of Ramadhaan).

The Messenger (S) said: "Whoever does not determine that he will fast before
Fajr will have no fast (that is, it would not be accepted)" [Nasaa'ee,
Tirmidhee and Abu Daawood]

He (S) also said: "Whoever does not carry the intention at night for
fasting, will have no fast" [Nasaa'ee, Bayhaqee and Ibn Hazm]

Notes:-

1. The place of the intention is the heart and pronouncing it with the
tongue is a Bid'ah (innovation), even though many consider it to be good.
2. Establishing of the intention in the heart before the time of Fajr is
compulsory for the obligatory fasting only. However, for voluntary fasts the
intention can be established at any time. Sometimes the Messenger (S) would
come to Aa'isha other than in the month of Ramadhaan and would ask her: "Do
you have any food? If not then I am fasting" [Muslim]
