We dear bothers and sister share everyting here in this forum, except as I have noticed books we have read and reading right now. With all the propaganda war happening around us it is extremely difficult to find to some extend objective author. So I suggest we exchange opinions about the authors and recommend books we read here in this thread.

I guess as an initiator it would be wise if I start it myself.

Although I am couple of chapters away from finishing it, I can more or less conclude my opinion about the book I am reading now. Jason Burke's "Al-Qaeda:Casting a shadow of terror" is more reveling then any other source on the topic. First of all on the author himself, he is special reporter of The Observer and it is his first book.

If you want an information from somebody who has actually seen the source of it and lived it himself you will have to chose this book. Assuming that you are interested in the subject matter beyond the news coverage, I am pleased to tell you that book uses fairly simple language. When you finish reading it I am pretty much certain you will have a basic idea what does media mean when they say "Al-Qaeda". Besides book gives comprehensive coverage about the Taliban, their origin and why do they do things they do. Not to mention the relation between the two: Taliban movement and Al-Qaeda. I can honestly tell you in my experience the argumentation of the book is as objective as it can get in western comprehention of the world.

I do not think one can face any problems with obtaining the book as it is fairly new (paperback version has just been released), though for those who live in Uzb it could be somewhat tricky business.

With all the respect to all of you...

So far number of replies I have got for my thread is ZERO. Does it mean that you my dearest sisters and brothers have never read a book?

Salam,
Birinchidan Uzbekistonda umuman haqiqiy dolzarb Islomiy kitoblar juda ham kam, bulsa ham davlat tuzumini qulab quvatlash uchun shu usulda yozilgan kitoblar. Endi chet elda yurgan birodarlarimiz uqimasa qolganlarini bilmadim.
HOLY WAR The Blood of Abraham By David Anderson.

It addresses two of the most important questions facing the World today:

· What is the role of religion in current world conflict?

· Is only Islam at fault, or also Judaism and Christianity?

It discusses these three religious belief systems and, although it leaves it to the reader to decide, argues that culpability for world terrorism rests heavily not only with the extremism of Islam, but also with the extremism of Judaism and Christianity.

It is a book that calls on its readers, Christians, Jews, Muslims, and all others, to look within themselves in search for answers to some of the most important questions facing our world.

Today in the United States there is an absence of critical religious discussion. Politicians, the media and publishing houses examine issues with extreme caution. Under the guise of "freedom of religion" Americans are expected to pretend that the three religions that came from Abraham are all inherently "good" for humanity. This political correctness disguises reality.

Three thousand years of history has shown that those following the religions of Abraham have repeatedly violated the sanctity of human life, inflicting pain and suffering on those not of their own kind who did not think as they did.

As this was true in the past, it is true today. HOLY WAR The Blood of Abraham explains why. It also offers solutions.

Dear readers I managed to find a website, where you can order books of uzbek publishers. They have quite a big collection of fiction as well as non-fiction books. Moreover, prices are very much affordable.

assalamu alaykum,

in this forum there is a thread "Kim nima o'qiyabdi?", but let me post again:

Deni Baksan's e-book on History.

www.kavkazcenter.com (http://www.kavkazcenter.com) ruscha bo'limida, Istoriya sahifasida.

Nomi "Sledy Satany na Tainykh Istokah Istorii"

Last, but not least, I encourage all brothers NOT to read books on Islam written by NON-MUSLIMS - because, as I realized, POINT of VIEW matters a lot.

what do you think?

mr
