From the countries that you want to visit, choose the one that has the "softest rules" of acceptence, like Holland or Belgium. But never opt for French embassy - you'll certainly have lots of trouble there.

Also be sure to present the letter of your stay in that country (like an invitaion letter, or a letter from the hotel).

And if you need it urgently, you'll have to travel to London. Doing that by post takes at least a week.
