Every year, UN comes out with its Human Development Index that rates the quality of life in the world by country. This year, Uzbekistan was #107 among the 177 countries represented. By comparison, Tajikistan ranked 116, Kyrgyzstan 110, Turkmenistan 86, Kazakhstan 78, Russia 57.
The top 10 for 2004 looks like this:
1 Norway
2 Sweden
3 Australia
4 Canada
5 Netherlands
6 Belgium
7 Iceland
8 United States
9 Japan
10 Ireland
