Dear Islam Abduganievich, although I am sure that this letter is not going reach you, I would like to express my feelings about your rule. You are not a legitimate president, because since the first presidential elections in Uzbekistan, all elections held in the country were neither fair nor open. I would also like to say that you are the only free person in the country, while all others are enslaved. Torture, numerous prisoners of consience, discrimination of minorities, genocide of religious groups, economic crimes, use of child labor and etc. are some of the crimes you committed during your so called presidency. It is amazing how one can degrade so far that he does not understand how much population suffers from his policies. It is useless to ask you anything, as it is naive to ask a madman why he is such. In the end of my letter I would say something for which I could go to jail, because of your laws. Any action, terrorist attack, violent protests, suicide attacks against you are just, hence you are not a legitimate president. I would like to say **** YOU MOTHER****ER!

ТАШКЕНТ (Рейтер) - Десятки тысяч жителей города Коканда в Узбекистане в понедельник вышли на улицы, требуя от властей улучшения условий жизни, и в знак протеста сожгли две полицейские машины, рассказал Рейтер очевидец происшествий.

Представители властей не были немедленно доступны для комментариев.

Исмаил Дададжанов, житель Коканда, сообщил по телефону, что стихийная акция началась после того, как утром сотрудники налоговой инспекции начали изымать у торговцев-челноков товары - во исполнение ужесточенных с 1 ноября правил мелкооптовой торговли.

Несогласные с действиями властей торговцы - по оценке очевидца, около 2.000 человек - толпой вышли в центр города, к зданию местной администрации (хокимията). По пути группа выросла, по мнению Дададжанова, до десятка тысяч человек.

По его словам, в дороге демонстранты перевернули и сожгли две полицейские машины. При этом никто не пострадал.

"Надо отдать должное милиции, что они проявили выдержку и не применили силу", - сказал очевидец.

По его словам, вышедший по требованию протестующих хоким области пообещал приложить усилия к том, чтобы выполнить их требования: помимо отмены высоких налогов на челночный бизнес, демонстранты требовали улучшить теплоснабжение домов, во многих из которых инфраструктура требует ремонта.

По словам очевидца, акция протеста продолжалась примерно с 11.00 до 17.00, после чего люди разошлись.

Коканд находится в северо-восточной густонаселенной Ферганской области, где уровень жизни один из самых низких в стране.

Узбекистан с населением 25 миллионов человек регулярно подвергается критике Запада за торможение либеральных реформ в экономике и политике. Критики говорят, что бедность и ограничения свобод в обществе подталкивают население к радикализму. В этом году результате осуществленных боевиками-смертниками актов насилия в стране погибло свыше 60 человек.

За причастность к этим преступлениям осуждены десятки человек, а власти возложили ответственность за события на международных религиозных экстремистов.

если не трудно приведи хотя бы одинь пример где такие методы дали результатпри Сталине когда создавали колхозы такими методами Россию (ну и СССР) из аграрной страны превратили в индустриальную супер державу....правда и время было другое и страна другая, сейчас такие методы не пройдут, ну если только не устроить разгон демонстрантов из пулеметов и массовые репрессии, а у Узбекистана нет средств чтобы всех подрят сожать да и заграница не позволит....

п.с. это я просто написал, сам я конечно против таких методов.

Why won't you first learn how to spell the word "loser," with one "o." You are stupid to think that government can handle millions of rebels; even European law enforcement agencies that are prepared to deal with these sort of situations would not be able to handle anything of this kind! Those people are angry; those people are desperate; those people have nothing to lose! The government is experiencing in a way a diminishing marginal return. They are pushing too far. If I were them, this is an idea if anybody from the government is reading this, I would keep them as far as they can live on the edge of the death, but not push them any further then that. It's like let them make money, but create a system where all of the money comes back, so that they won't have any extra money to spend on anything else, but basic necessities. Take for example, the Industrial Revolution in England. It worked! But if you do it the French way... where third estate people were not even listened to, they will drag you down to the streets and cut your head off.

I think in any respect it's good that people showed thier opposition regardless of numbers and the issues they are against. Basic point is folks will and can oppose the government and it's regulation. Now, adminstrative elite knows that people will not take whatever the regulation they put forward. Equally people from other regions can see and take a note of the incident, hence show thier opposition if needed.

The issue is that, there won't be any serious changes with so called unrests. They postponded the impliment of the new law, but it was not cencelled, the point. It will be implied whatever...Everything is under control.

I guess, government doesn't realize what might be boiling over and over behind the curtain. It's probably very dangerous situation; with its stupid policies and corrupted subordinates, they are pushing too far. But, nothing will happen for years if there is no organized effort and government was good so far at preventing them. the problem is that all one needs is couple million bucks at best and team. leader with strong rethoric skills and people, even the police will follow him. folks are ready to follow anybody, just to get rid of the system and the guy up there. Unfortunately, generally such times tend to help a person or groups with not so good intentions easily take the lead and country might fall into chaos. God save.

Look what has been happening during last 15 years.
There used to be opposition parties who could gather tens of thousands of people if necessary. They used to have their own bank accounts with significant amount of money; they used to have their newspapers, regular meetings etc, etc. All this disappeared.

You have to admit that current government was and is successful in handling the dissent and protest.
