If I may ask, is your family your real family or American host family? Just wondering if an Uzbek family would give presents on this day (I am assuming you are uzbek of course). You don't have to answer if you don't feel like it though.

Of course my host family:P .Once I couldn't remember when is Valentine Day in Uzbekistan, u know what I mean:P

So now even parents are giving presents to their kids fo Valentine's day. I thought only people in romantic relationships gave their "special ones" gifts. This country's "Consume, consume, consume" philosophy never fails to amaze me...

I don like valentines day.Simply because too many people put so much stock into the gifts they recieve as being a defination of the status/strength of thier relationship. If you have to wait until that one day of the year to find out if your significant other loves you, you are in a shi*ty relationship.

It doesn't mean that you have to give or recieve presents exactly that day, if you think so than you are wrong,it is just ANOTHER day when you can show other(s) your feelings;) You don't have to follow it though:P

Speaking of which,it's not strictly for your "true love"
But you can do something outrageous,get a date for a DAY and have fun
Or something romantic for example: dinner for two in a romantic restaurant, do not want to go out, fine. Make one at your own place:cook something light(you do not want to feel uncomfortable), red wine (not champane trust me-not a good idea for this night) and of course something sweet (Val is always about chocolate)so menu is done.
Now the interior candles white tapers are good but you can make it more interesting by adding red or pink,depends on your taste and imagination.
Do not forget about FLOWERS, ROSES (the best),white lillies(sweet, always different is good, too) and what do you think about orchids(if you like it, why not?).Got them,too?
Ok so bouqet is done, but try to get extra dozen of roses (color......will be good if you match them to the WHOLE thing), take the petals and throw some on the table (nicely) ,some of it in bedroom ;) (light up candels,mix different hight pillars)
Hehehe much fun is when you'll go ahead and do some extravaganza in the bathroom,fill up the bath tub with water and throw the rest of the petals in there put few candles,FIN
Side effects: all the cleaning from the candle mess,rose petals and of course BE CAREFUL with candles :D
Trust me going out is BETTER way out,but someone will remember your HARD WORK.

Plan ..............have you tried fondue ,that's fun too,but alot of mess,unless she likes chocolate covered strawberries (you can prove her that you can make your own).
And strictly for LOVERS, chocolate BODY ART steeeeeeeeamy,covering your dear in chocolate and you know what :twisted:

Well for the rest of the FAMILY members,Ladies get the FLOWERS,kids candy,gentelmen .....well COLONE,WATCHES,PENS (it depends on age) FRIENDS(lets don't forget them,too)-Plush toys,keychains with hearts.
Don't want to think tooooooooo much, get everybody a CARD
