Why do we lie???

I think there is not any person, who hasn't lied in his life at all. People, what makes YOU lie? Was there any situation where you got really embarrassed when your lie came out? :D
To be first, yes I did lie in my life. But when it's really needed and nobody has suffered because of my lie. So I don't think that makes me a big liar.

Why do we lie ? 'Cuz We can't tell the whole truth during our interactions with each other. I also lie and I think that's because of my ignorance.Especially when i am in an argument with somebody,i will do anything to try and win the argument,even lie about the topic.I really don't remember the last time I did it. It's just that I see so many people lying about so many things. And some say I can stop lying but I think it is not possible for me to stop lying ever. I have a duty to tell the truth only to those I owe loyalty but sometimes certain lies are necessary, especially when dealing with people whom you care about. So lying isn't always wrong and doesn't just help yourself, it often helps others too. :) May be someone is going to tell me that i am wrong but then.. go out and lie . Whether about big or little things. Everyone lies that is a fact.

We lie i guess, to not get into trouble, not get ur ass kicked by ur parents. I don't drink or smoke, but i did, i would lie to my parents bout that. Lie really does save your life. For some period of time. But when they know u lied ur hella dead. And there is thing called Bullshittin. Hate that, i mean you can lie, but why so many people say i'm Mafias son, and blah blah. Its cracked up, Bullshitters live in thier world, they have to come out with something everyday. Its their life.

Why do we lie. There are probably a lot of reasons lik :a fear, greed and hate.
Fear those who tended to lie more were individuals who were more concerned with self-presentation or individuals who tended to lie more, told more self-serving lies or Sometimes we do not want to hurt someone's feelings. Because each of us in our way selectively chooses what we wish to say. Lying to protect yourself is the most common sort of lie. One reason is that often we are afraid to tell the truth because we fear losing something. Another reason is that we don't really care but we still wish to avoid an unpleasant or dangerous situation. When we tell the absolute truth, even carefully with sensitivity, and in love, there is always a great risk of triggering a defensive response.
So lying should be considered a skill human beings have developed to survive in an overpopulated world -- where if you don't get in where you fit in. We lie because we were taught at an early age:
Telling the truth will get you in trouble.
It's not nice to hurt peoples feelings.
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything.
It's okay to protect a friend.
Always play to win.

I've heard some state that lying is merely a means for self-survival. It's a definate action that is almost always focused with the ego and promoting the ego in a situation.

I'm not a Kantian by any means, I don't believe that honesty is the best policy at every given moment and that we should always tell the truth no matter what.

I'm more concerned with why we lie to ourselves, when no one can hear or know what we are thinking or believing and yet we still lie to ourselves.

Damn, how do u know so much things bout lie? Anywayz true you tell lies to ur friend to not hurt her. If she bought a dress and she's wearin it somewhere u might not say something, but if you tell her the truth nobody would make fun of her who knows. Its hard to decide.
