why we're not minority?

Why Uzbeks are not considered minority students? when chosing among answers, what should I write to other______ ? Can I chose the Asian version. Thank you.

Minority status is for American students only. Uzbek students on student visas (not with US citizenship or a green card) are considered international students.
If you are a US resident, then I guess you can write in "Central Asian" for "Other". As far as I know, you don't have to answer the question about ethnic origin in most applications. But if you want to take advantage of your minority status, my advice is don't say you are Asian. Asian-americans do not get any preferential treatment. On average, they get higher test scores and earn more money than even whites.

Uzbeks ARE considered minotiry students. Who told you they are not? As far as race goes choose other and write European or Central Asian. Do not write Asian then they'll think you are "piska kuz."

Thank you Samimiy. makes sense, I didn't know u have to be citizen or permanent resident in order to qualify as a minority. so, I am just international student only:(
Bilmadim, yeah u're right I can just write I am Central Asian, but, as mentioned above minorities supposed to be a citizen or per. resident, then I anyways can't get benefits of minority students. So, just writing I am minoritynot gonna help me at all. thanx though.

They are not, believe me.
The whole minority issue is related to only American residents. Everyone else is considered International students.

Point is not about writing asian or whatever, but there are lots of benefits of being minority.especially in internships and scholarships. and whom are u talking to when u say miss harip or acting smart?
