You all know Craig Murray, Britain's ex-Ambassador to Uzbekistan. So what he has suggested to do (this is an extract from his yesterday's interview regarding massacre in Uzbekistan):

Write to your MP (Member of Parliament). As someone who has worked in the Foreign Office, I can tell you it has much more effect than you might think. The MP passes it on and it has to be answered within a week. Six letters and they think the electorate is fascinated by this subject. Write and demand free elections in Uzbekistan and demand we stop calling it an ally.

So please, people in UK write to your MP right now. Or/And tell you UK friends to write to their MPs. If they don't know how to find their address, here is the link:
w_w_w (.) parliament (.) (uk)/directories/directories (.) cfm/

Act now!

This kind of action should be done all over the world. There're so many uzbeks abroad.

Let me tell you something, if you uzbeks won't take an action yourselves, then don't expect it from somebody else to do it for you.

You act and others support you.

Write your MP, senators, collect signatures.... and demand it.

:evil:

[B]JUST WANTED TO ADD. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND A WORKING THING. I heard it from many people who have some knowledhe in the area. All the Uzbeks should really write letters to the government members in the country they are in right now. Like Foreign ministers. This really works.believe me.

Here we go:

Dear Sir ___________,

We are writing to express our concerns that the UK Government is failing to address the indiscriminate massacre of protesters, including women and children, in Uzbekistan, on the 13th of May 2005 to the 15th of May.

Being Uzbeks and living and enjoying the freedom and democracy of the UK, we are deeply concerned about the bloody events on 13 May that left so many innocent civilians dead, and we believe that the authoritarian and dictatorial Uzbek President, Islam Karimov, and those around him are guilty of a crime against humanity.

Islam Karimov has violated the human rights of the Uzbeks, and he is guilty of repression, silencing of free mass media, restricting trade and business and exiling dissidents.

We also consider him accountable for the suffering of the Uzbek nation in general that has undergone 15 years of a brutal dictatorship.Refer to the reports of Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International to have a clear picture of what is happening in Uzbekistan.

We consider that Karimov is a criminal both throughout his reign and during the recent events in Andijan. We also consider that there are no conceivable excuses for the military officials, officers and soldiers who opened fire indiscriminately at children, elders and women. They had the choice to disobey their orders.

We understand that Islam Karimov was an ally in the “War On Terror”, that he has allowed the U.S. to establish an air base to support military operations in neighbouring Afghanistan. However, the UK, being the primary ally of US in the “War On Terror”, should not turn a blind eye to the atrocities of the Karimov dictatorship.

It is clear that he is taking advantage of his relationship with the US to oppress his own nation. The Afghan war is finished and the situation has normalised; there is no need of Karimov’s help anymore.

Therefore, on the behalf of all Uzbeks in the UK, we urge you Sir _____ as a Member of Parliament, as representative of UK government, to call on the government to undertake the following actions:

- to call for an independent international investigation into the recent massacre;

- to stop supporting the tyranny of Karimov’s regime;

- to carry out free elections in Uzbekistan as soon as possible;

- to stop considering him an ally.

Your action today may save the lives of thousands, if not millions, tomorrow. We have done what we can; the ball is now in your court.

Thank you very much and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

thanks, very useful.
My feedback is that the letter is too general and does not unfold the brutality of the event itself. In the letter it is better to mention that you are stakeholder, or British of Uzbek descent or have relatives in Uzb-n so that it looks like you are ordinary Brit or American with some connections in Uzb-n.
It should first illustrate the brutality of the Andijan massacre, and show how the government is to blame for it, in detail.
Then, it can mention the general overview of the regime vis-a-vis human rights and freedom.
And lastly, as you wrote prescribe concrete actions. May want to attach some photos of the massacre to add some human touch...

Great start. Urge others to start editing and sending off the protest letter.

I totally agree with your comments on how to enrich Stopdictator`s draft. Definetely it must contain some more details to show how brutal those events were.
If some one has draft which takes into account Referee's comments, please post it here, so others could use it, with edition off course.
It may worth to send a letter, with similar content to white house also, their e-mail is: president@Whitehouse.GOV
