В истории исламского мира заключен первый web-никях. 26-летняя Шабнам из Лакнау (Индия) и ее жених Абдулла Калям, работающий в Саудовской Аравии, провели бракосочетание через Интернет, сообщает "Ислам.Ру" со ссылкой на "Hindustan Times".

Шабнам заявила о своем согласии стать супругой Абдуллы, сидя в интернет-кафе перед веб-камерой. В этот момент ее жених находился за тысячи километров от нее, не имея возможности приехать в Индию.

Родственники Шабнам говорят, что именно они нашли для девушки жениха, используя для этого Интернет. Дело облегчалось тем, что будущий муж оказался инженером-программистом.

Свадьба не обошлась без традиционного присутствия родственников как невесты, так и жениха, а также празднования события. Улемы утверждают, что подобная церемония вполне правомерна, так как при этом соблюдаются все необходимые условия

I am not sure why they did it but there are good reasons for it too. I guess some people would like to marry through internet to avoid costly transporting of relatives, so poor people coild benefit from it. Surely, they will have to live together afterwards, otherwise wedding makes no sense. But if it has been approved by the ulama and on-line weddings work for some people, then i don't see any problems with it...

you know, not that i wanna be a pain in the neck or whatsoever but if it's all about saving money spent on transporting relatives and stuff, then the groom or bride could travel to the other's country/town/place/whatsoever and marry there, right? i mean they're gonna live together later on anyway? why not start living together right away?

it still doesn't make sense to me, bro/sis...

c'mon, just think about it - an online marriage. you are saying it's a good way to save money and good use of modern tech, did i understand you correctly? i do agree but even if so it does not make sense, and i've mentioned above why does it not do so ;)
