Hey guys,
Have any of you been experiencing problems calling Uzbekistan lately (2-3 weeks)? The major problem I have is 1) sound on the other side is inconsistent (appears/disappears so that I do not really understand the whole words, forget about sentences) and 2) most of the times they can not hear me at all.
I thought there was a problem with my phone card (I use Teletsar from ldpost.com) and I switched to a regular phone line (I use Verizon). The problems are still there but not to that extent. I had ldpost.com checking the lines and they are not finding any issues. Verizon's technical ssrvice did not find any issues either. That makes me wonder if there is some problem on UZ side.
Please let me know if you have similar problems. If not, there must be something with parents' phone that needs to be checked. Otherwise,... I do not know what's otherwise;)

I have had some troubles calling home from UK. Sometimes they hear me well, but I can not hear them properly. Or there is repeated request to redial. Probably some maintenance work or moreover worsening of whole, ex-Soviet style telecommunications infrasctructure due to extensive usage with no obvious investment in modern technology. Try mobile lines, they are more up to date.

Guys, we gonna have to wait for about a week or so and the telephone connection will get to the normal again. To my mind, the problem we have been experiencing with the telephone connection may somehow be related to a recent faulty undersea cable that crashed Pakistan's telephone lines and internet access (10-11 days ago) as well.
You can find some information about the incident in here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/4648609.stm).
I have had similar problem describeb by Lotus. But usually when I hang up and call again, the quality improves.

This has been happening since a long time. I had the same problem when I called Tashkent. The quality is much better when you call the land line but not the cell phone.
The cell phones are not working well these past months. Even Unitel (in my opinion who always had the better quality) is not working good either.
Hopefully they'll do something about this soon because it is annoying.

I'm having some kind of problems, there are no answer from most landline numbers. Hell knows why, but it was not like that much bad :( half a year ago. Even cell-phones are hardly reachable. I am trying to get used to text messages only.

I have experinced the "call fade" as well. When I call back the line is better for a few minutes. I have experinced this problem for off and on since 2003. I have tried calling this evening from the U.S. (central time zone) and get an error message. I guess the problem is due to poor and old former Soviet phone systems.

I use Skype - no problem at all - they can't cut us off that way.
When I was using a phone card, I would always get cut off.
