Norway?Has been in the first place for 5 consequent years.

But here's one thing - Norwegians still think that their government should pay more attention to social problems in health, education etc. I think thats the nature of the humankind - even in the ' Best country of the world ' people are still unsatisfied!!!!

The European Union. Because I can live wherever I want as a EU citizen, without the need of visas or residence permits, and enjoy the advantages of all EU countries. And because of the sheer diversity, the short distances to completely "different worlds", the rich culture and exciting history that all European countries are characterised by. And because life is easy there, because there is a higher degree of social fairness, compared to other parts of the world. (like USA, Japan .. )

My second choice would be the Middle East, because of the fascinating people and culture / history. Tolerance level towards other societies are much higher here + Petrol prices are pretty darn cheap. :)

The maximum marginal tax rate for individuals including social security and pension is around 50%.This is the most it can ever go,I don't think anyone would be willing to work under the 75% tax rate.

Kazakhstan is obviously the most developed in Central Asia. I'd say Almaty is the best city to live in all Central Asia.

UK in Europe, if I had a choice I'd take my family over here

I do agree with all of you guys in terms of homecountry is best place to live in because of your family and friends there, hovewer the situation isn't getting any good in Uzb. things are getting from bad to worse, and that's true

Concerning health system, freedom, unemployment, family life, climate, political stability and security, gender equality and family and community life, I would go for Ireland, the "green land". Irish people are very sensitive for environment, they have high standart of life, one of the lowest rate of unemployment. Ireland has got freedom for its people and model of real democracy in world, a stable political situation, and civil liberties make it more good place to live. GDP per capita: purchasing power parity - $31,900 (2004 est.) - one of the best in Europe. (while UK is $29.000 and france )

Norway, Sweden, Luxembourg, Switzerland, then the rest of EU countries, followed by US.

Best country/ city to live in from my point of view would be:
1. Switzerland
2. UAE - Dubai ONLY
3. Germany
4. Italy, Tuscany...no eto tolko dlya dushi :)

I personally favor DXB, because of the reasons Spoon mentioned above. Dynamic, pleasant weather, exciting ppl, almost taxfree and safe. Good job opportunities if you hold a good degree, experience and a British/American/European passport.
Unfortunately, the rest is a modern version of slavery...Cheap labour from developing countries....yet some are still better off in DXB than at home.

Hilola

If weather is an issue, then Italy/South of France...Northern Europe is depressing. Dubai gets extremely hot for 2,3 months of the year, rest is a paradise!

Dubai can be considered as the richest place on earth with the highest income wage levels per capita.
Everything is man made in the country. The zoo, the lake, the snow everything is all man made.
The city-state is trying its hard to be the hub of almost every possible destination - which can be commerce, trade, tourism, contemporary place of living, you name it (http://dubaitourism.co.ae/travel/TourDir_Developments.asp).

People seem to be so wealthy in Dubai that the local residents [citizens] most often do not have to work. So the government outsource their jobs and hire a lot of people from Europe, North America, South Africa, Philippines, India. Some people work here doing simple IT work and getting USD 12k/month + tons of bonuses like a corporate sponsored villa, free luxury car, a lifetime ViSA residenceship. You may have almost the same rights as the Dubai's locals except you cannot own a passport and influence the politics.

hilkabibi
10-03-2005, 01:23 PM
Spoon,

all you have mentioned is true.

But did you ever think about low income expats, those without corp. benefits, lavish villas in Jumeirah, club memberships in JBH etc?
Those expats that work for Emaar and other construction companies...or those who work in hotels? Did you know that usually their passports are kept with their company, so they cannot relocate?

Or for instance you might have heard abt the 6 months ban - which luckily was cancelled a few weeks ago. I wonder whatever happened to labour unions or simple things like Human Rights?
Jumeirah keeps the passports of its employees, based on the duration of contract...One is forced to submit the pass to the HR department.
Modern Slavery, I call it.

Dubai is a hypocratic city, with posh lifestyle and a booming economy. Again, as already mentioned before its a very nice place to be at if u fulfill 2 criterias:
1. Western Passport
2. Good Educational / Proff. background.

Last but not least smth arabs call "wasta". I am sure you have heard abt it, since as it seems you are based in Dxb.

Still, I am amazed by the city and its dynamic pace. I am in love with it. I was lucky enough to spend 1 great year there and am looking forward to get back there soon...

Australia..
They really need qualified, skilled persons.. I heard they will receive over 80000 immigrants in 2006..
I was in Sydney.. i liked so much.. but i have some other plans for going to the States.. After i came back to Turkey i got an invitation:

''....
Dear ...,
Exciting news from the Australian Government!
To help cope with the critical skills shortage in Australia, the Government will be spending AU$3million on a migration drive in Europe and Asia, hosting expos in London, Berlin, Chennai and Amsterdam.
The Department of Immigration has created 20,000 additional places for skilled migration in 2005-2006, with doctors, engineers, nurses and tradespeople high on the priority list.
The message is simple, ...: we need you! .... ''

Well, however, it doesn't explain why majority of young saudi "heros" are craving their way out by driving 700km to Emarat on a weekendly basis.
They're notorious for their typical "How much.." question, begging the white expat chaps for a "nice friendship".

O'zbekistonda yashash yaxshi, xozir ham. Ammo, hudo ko'rsatmasin ikkinchi yugoslavia bo'sa hammani hotirjamligi yo'qolib ikkinchi vatan qidirishga tushadi, noiloj.

Hotirjamlik, sog'lik, va hayotiylik vatandan so'nggandan keyin hamma uni tark etishga majbur bo'ladi.

Hudo saqlasin.

Hamma so'raydi bo'tta, qaytib ketasanmi yo sho'tta yashaysanmi? deb. Man, nima qilishimni bilganim uchun, ularga darrov savol bilan javob beraman "San nima deb o'ylaysan?", ular(Amerikalik humanoidlar) aytadiki san bo'tta hayot boshlading u-bu...

Amerika yoki boshqa davlat faqat moddiy jihatdan boyish uchun kifoya xolos. Yoki dunyoviy ilm olib moddiy jihatdan boyish.

Hech qaysi, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, US -- Vatan, Shahar, Mahalla, uyni oldidan oqadigan soy, Darvoza, qo'ni qo'shni, qarindosh urug' va do'stlar bilan choyhonalashib o'tirish tuyg'usini bera olmaydi.

Mani fikrimcha, AQSH yoki boshqasini "Green Card" ini qabul qilgan holda o'sha mamlakatda yashash mumkin, keyin boyigandan keyin Vatanga ketib oyla qurish maqsadga juda muvofiq.

Sog'lik salomatchilik tilab-

In our country we have a kinda proverb "O'zga Elde Xon Bo'lgandan Ko'ra O'z Yurttingda Gadoy Bo'l " - meaning : Instead of being a king in other nation its better to be a begger in your OWN NATION.

So I perfer my Own home UZBEKISTAN family - freinds - relatives and every uzbek ppl. I like them.

I will try to be with them in thier "bad" and "good" day[its classic word]
I mean we the students and adolescences should live in our country and do our best to exalt our nation. Thats true that our country having a bad days in every field , I accept to being away of these problems is much more benficial for us in every subject but look at your nation and society u r the childrens of that society wich is getting bad day by day. We shouldn't go away from the truths in contrast we should try to do our best to do sth after taking our education in abroad. Work for ur own family = nation.

Peace.
