A new board!

Hi all,

I have been observing the forum lately and decided to initiate this idea, because most of us are interested in not-exactly-related-to-education issues such as finding internships, how to make a resume that stands out, cover letters, interview tips, which master's program, where to go? etc.

As I anticipate a question "Why do we need one?", I will answer it straight away. First, the geographic range of this forum is as broad as a hell.:D For example, someone in US might not be able to get some very specific questions or insider information about some companies or universities in europe, or vice versa. There are might be some people who are best concerned with the issue and whatsoever. Secondly, this is an UZBEK forum...if you go to an indian forum, they have this board despite the fact they know there are lots of professional boards and most likely they might be attending them too. The last, but not the least, this board can be a good place for those who want to share their own experince how they got into the school, how they made their career, in other words, an online netwok for uzbek professionals. (hopefully in the future)
Im not claiming that these should not be discussed on education board, if you do, you are more than welcome. But I personally disagree to label these postgraduate and off-curriculum stuff as "objects" for Education board.

We are all in support of democracy, that's why I will create a poll and please feel free to share your thoughts. Thanks!

Totally agree with the initiative. May be we should have "sticky threads" explaining basic methods of getting into universities, getting scholarships, efficient way of recruitment for each country - US, UK, Germany, France, Japan etc. We can always update this information.

This will be benefitial for many of us, especially those in UZ who are planning to go abroad. I faced with some very tragic cases, when people trust some "companies" in UZ, pay large sums. These "companies" promise to get them into a good university, help with scholarship applications, assist with getting jobs, but the results are not always positive (There were such cases in Japan as well - personal experience). This board (threads) would at least contribute to lessen the probability of such cases, because normal intelligent person doesn't need "paid" crap assistance to get to the university or get a good job abroad.

We could call it "Career Planning".

Obshiy forum usizda ham kashasi chiqib yotibdi. :)
manimcha togdan bogdan gapiravergancha, alohida alohida topiklarda gaplashgan maqul. Ushanda kimga qanqa info kerak busa usha boardga borib "titkilashi" mumkin. Undan tashqari, bazi mavzular forumga kam kam kiradigan lekin, shu mavzularda kuproq infoga ega bugan odamlar etiboridan chetda qob ketishi mumkin. Keyin usha boardga guest speaker taklif qisagam bulardi. Online conference larmiyey. M-n; Global Uzbek Councilni online chatini shutta utkazasa bulardi. I think that this kind of board would be very usefull and helpful. It would be in an indicator of friendship atmosphere here on the forum among forumers/compatriots.

What Asadbek suggested makes sence and feasible. Univerisities , Career planning blah, blah..... all under one board is enough.
If you want to categorize threads this forum should have at least 50+ boards.

While posting my previous reply, I didn't carefully read Asadbek's suggestion. I didn't clearly remember about existence of "Education" section either.

Yes, I agree with Asadbek, "Internships & Jobs" could be joined into one section with "Education" as its logical continuation. Both are different stages of "Career".

Many opposite opinions. But I think the main purpose is not whether opening or not opening the new board for "Jobs", it is rather making this topic more often (always) exposed to ourselves and never let it become an archive topic.
