Has anyone taken Calculus 1 at the college level? If yes, please share your thoughts about the course at your university, about your professor. What are the main things to consider to succeed? Everything and anything about it.
ps: I'm having hard time understanding it... and please pull the personal conflicts aside if you have something to say about the topic.

I think it does not cover all the topics we are taught on "Vishaya Matematika" in Uzb. I wouldn't find it challenging unless you haven't taken math back in Uzbekistan.
Calc I is mostly about derivatives and limits and some other irrelevant topics. Just make sure you understand limits and derivatives and basic techniques of integration towards the end of the course, because Calc II is all about that, just much more complicated.

That's true. What they teach in Calculas 1 at UK colleges is pretty easy by Uzbke standard taught math. Because they don't cover at high school what we learn at school.

Calculus when it is pure math is pretty straight forward. Now I am taking math for economics which is basically the same as calculus except there are a lot of applications which sucks.
Bilmadim if you don't understand the calculus it doesn't mean that it is all because of you. Other factors may be playing role as well. Such as your textbook, your professor and some other things. My advice could be do all your homeworks that proffessor asigns. Only by solving as many as possible problems you can learn the math. Next thing is get some additional textbooks. Either buy them or check out from your library. But be careful because many textbooks are confusing. It is always good to read some comments on these books. For instance I would recommend you to buy this book (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0070415234/102-4843702-7382554?v=glance&n=283155&n=507846&s=books&v=glance). The reason is there are good reviews by the people who actually used this book. Besides as one of the customer noted
The best way to learn calculus is to do problems. I was a professor for 8 years and it was a technique that I learned as a student at MIT and later passed on to my students.
Do these problems to improve your scores on tests or just to pass if you are having a problem. To succeed in calculus do problems, problems, and more problems. Here is a book with 3000 problems. That will keep the student busy.
Recommend buy. It is cheap and effective.

Moreover the price is also not that expensive. I highly recommend you to buy this book keeping in mind that it is only supplement to your actual textbook.
P.S. Advanced Probability is hard.
