The world economy and its infrastructures can not be run without oil, that's the harsh reality of modern global economy, thus human beings' welfare, level of life, its development and list goes all the way are dependent on oil. There's no need for further explanation of oil vitality, smart folks will quickly get the point. And the other side of the reality is oil's near future END! Possibly several decades if not less. As a human, does it bother you? If it does, then what are your speculations of future life without oil, did you ever thought of oil's end and its impact on EVERYONE's level of life?
A). Yes, but what can I do?
B). Yes, I'm thinkng of the ways out
C). No, I'm not bothering myself, humanity will somehow find the way out without my help.
D). Other answers:....

DJIGIT,
Thanks for an interesting topic. It's currently one of the most discussed topics around the world. I was recently asked to write a brief report on this issue, and I wrote the following:
January 27, 2006
Light, Sweet Crude Oil (CL)
Overview
*In 2006, it is expected that crude oil prices will go as high as $80 per barrel, mainly due to the current political instability in the Middle East.
*The Middle East is the heart of the oil industry, where 6 out of 11 members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) are located, and they supply approximately 30% of the world’s oil production and 40% of the exports.
*History proves that oil prices are adversely related to political stability in the Middle East. The chart below indicates that crude oil prices climbed over $60 per barrel during the Iran-Iraq War, and again substantial price volatility was observed during the Gulf War.
*Since the beginning of the war in Iraq, the oil industry has entered a bull market and hit a new all-time high of $60 per barrel in June, 2005.
*Crude oil is currently trading at $67.84 per barrel and is expected to rise as the US intensifies pressure on Iran to halt its nuclear program.
Conclusion
*As the price for crude oil continues to grow, booming economies, such as China’s, may be in jeopardy due to export-oriented industrialization strategies, which rely heavily on inexpensive transportation.
*China and other industrialized countries are expected to increase their investment into R&D for alternative sources of energy in order to become less dependent on oil from the Middle East.

we should start to think about the development of OFF-GRID Renewable ENERGY
US is starting to think about this issue....but there no any positive results that would shortly help to solve oil crisis & satisfy the demand for energy
Russian scientists found some energy sourse, if I'm not wrong, called plutoniya .... the output of this source of energy is better for 50 times then our existing resources
Also we should start to think about using other planets energy resources

LOL! u read to much science fiction novels...
who knows....but it is interesting....
I think it looks realistic enough in a long future
Anyway there is a high demand for different energy resources...why can't we supply it
in a long future we gonna feel some shortage of energy resources....then we'll try to read such scientific novels...& try to make different laboratory researches that gonna study off-grid energy

Exactly do you really think they do not have those renewable energy sources at this moment? Oil is big money ! makes alot of people rich! and they will never move their finger to look for alternative sources... If they do and it becomes so available and cheap , they will not be rich anymore...
About plutonia... I am afraid to take a flight in russian made airplane, let alone use their alternative energy source! people often confuse or give credits for achievments of soviet scientist to russians only for some reason...

In the long future? EU has already invested over 200 million Euros into research and development (R&D) of alternative energy sources. Bush during his State of the Union speech has also called for more research in this sector...anyway, here's what he said precisely:
"Tonight, I announce the Advanced Energy Initiative -- a 22 percent increase in clean energy research at the Department of Energy, to push for breakthroughs in two vital areas".
"We will increase our research in better batteries for hybrid and electric cars, and in pollution-free cars that run on hydrogen."

that's right from one side...but from other it is also very important to big oil exporters to control all avaible energy resources
Russia as one the Worlds big exporter of the oil - is intends to control in the future all avaible kinds of energy resources
China as a biggest consumer of such energy is also trying to satisfy their need by some off-grid resources

OK :D
anyway it require some times in order to study all those available resources
and also all other producers of electronics shouls also be prepared to such innovated energy resource
I recomment reading the following 2 websites with opposite views:
http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/ - pretty much predicts Doom's Day when we suddenly run out of oil.
and opposing view:
http://marshallbrain.blogspot.com/2005/06/peak-oil-will-be-non-event.html - We will see prices for gasoline go up, yes, and there may be some short term spikes that are a little disruptive, but overall I believe we will work this out in a natural way.
The very simple explanation for why this will happen can be summarized in about 15 words: As oil gets more expensive, other technologies will compete on price and replace oil.

Салин, передает AР

China does not depend on the oil from Middle East that much. The major oil exporter to China is Russia. besides that Kazakhstan exports oil from Caspian Sea to China.
US economy, rather than Chinese, is more sensetive to the Middle Eastern oil , as they buy it for US dollars, whereas Russia sells lots of its oil for Euros, including sales to China.
