Most of you must have experienced cultural dissonance in your life having moved to another country in order to study or work.
Tell me how did you overcome those cultural differences.

I was very patient. I try to understand those parties (from another culture)...
Once me with some another brothers from another Islamic countries were having a lunch in one of those friends room. Suddenly door knocked-He was Indian Student from our group,we invited him to join our lunch. We were having a spagetti with Cows meat. Indian friend said that Cow was thier God so He did not eat, When we asked do you drink milk of cow he said "yes".(I hardly could stop me laughing after hearing that, but I kept silince inorder not to hurt his beliefs). But later he said -When I gt hungry I dont care I eat all kind of meal. it was little bit funny...
When I see something unusual in the actions or behavior of some nationalities I accept it as if it was a normal in their culture. If this action surprizes me much I ask the if that related to their culture...
PS: Try to take it easy ;)

actually i didn't try anyhow to overcome the cultural difference, i'm just trying to get to know the local culture as better as possible so that not to hurt/discomfort someone, at the same time not to discomfort/hurt myself.
and when i communicate with people i try to make them know from which country i am from, what religion i beleive in so that they could adjust their behaviour accordingly.
