Hello everyone,
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I am flying to Uzbekistan 1st of June, 2006 for 1 month. My OVIR will be expiring on the 15th of July, 2006. I have a return ticket for 30th of June, 2006. As you see, my OVIR will be valid for another 15 days at the time of my flight from Uzbekistan.
Will I have any problem at the airport. Has anyone here been in similar situation? If yes, what happened?
Thanks in advance

Well..
They'll let you go even with a day OVIIR (on 14th July i mean) but You'd better apply for a new one. Safer
I have my own question:
Someones OVIIR has expired 2 years ago and he/she needs to go to Uzb soon. How long will the procedures take to renew OVIIR? And what are they?

she/he is going to have a hard time entering the country. At least I did with my expired OVIR. Legally port of entry cannot say anything since OVIR is to depart from the country, not to arrive. But you know how it works in Uzb :)
She/he may experience difficulties renewing OVIR for the exact reason I noted earlier. Usually, it takes 10 to 15 business days (sometimes it is waaay more than that) to renew OVIR. But if she/he has someone who can help them from "inside" it could be done in a matter of couple of days ranging from $40 up to $200...or for FREE :)
You will need to pay Gos poshlina= 8000 sums and need to fill out an application ANKETA :)

Most likely they will let you out. Renewing your OVIR is a very good option but again, you are eliglbe to change you OVIR no time earlier than the date of expiration.

If you get new passort (change it) you also need our ovir visa, in case of expiring of intern visa there'll be no problem if you entering UZB-n. You can live abroad 10 years long, you don't need it at all, you need it only to exit a country :) , OVIR is remain of our soviet system.

Thanks to all, guys!
I cannot apply for new OVIR while I am in Uzb, as it my old one will have to expire before I reapply. On the other hand I cannot wait longer in Uzb, as I have work commitments overseas.
I was interested though, if anyone been in similar situation to mine, that is, left Uzbekistan with OVIR about to expire...
thanks again.

Laws do not overlap each other. I mean if you cannot really apply for a new one until the current one expires, how can you get one? is it possible? you should tell this to them. But check first to make sure whther it really says like that.

Menimcha muammo bo'lmasa kerak chiqib ketishda chunki OVVIR faqat chiqish uchunku.

Briefly, you shouldn't have any problems. Well, some officers may try to intimidate you but you can tell them where to go, as the visa should be valid on the day of exiting Uzbek-n, it does not regulate the duration of your stay away. The law is on your side...

ну в продолжении темы, да
а нет ли таких правил как - для получения визы, скажем в США, необходимо иметь ОВИР с оставшимся сроком минимум 9 месяцев или даже год?

To make it safer, I would fly to Tashkent through Moscow (no stupid Q's, as you don't need OVIR when leaving to Russia - personal experience). Same with going back - you go to Moscow first and then overseas from there (in Moscow they'd only look at expiry date). Most overseas destinations can be connected through Moscow, I assume.
Well, in fact any other major city in former "Sovok" countries that don't require visa (Almaty, etc.) - Moscow is the most convenient for most people, though.
Same applies to those, who are entering country with expired OVIR - no stupid Q's while entering the country.
Wishing you safe trip, my friend :)

I dont think you need to apply for new OVIR, it wont expire and I dont think you will have any problem with it. If you apply for OVIR you have to go to embassy and "anulirovat'" your visa. and when you get your OVIR you have to go to and renew your visa again. They do it because when you leave your passport at OVIR people can just rip that page off. So it is going to cost you money and time. So I dont think you even should bother. just IMHO.

as i told above there is formal or informal requirement for OVIR to be at least 6 months valid before departure, maybe this applies only to US Embassy

Where does this info come from? US embassy can't have an opinion on the internal stamp of Uzb-n. The OVIR exit stamp is for exit, i.e. it's for the Uzbek border controls, not for US border controls. US embassy can only require a certain period of validity on your passport, your international document for travel, and other documents necessary for entry to USA, of which OVIR visa is not part...

I agree with Referee. Nobody cares for your OVIR validity, unless you are in Uzb. or one of those former "sovok" countries like Russia or Kazakhstan.
And if you are overseas, they'd issue you visa to another country as long as your passport is valid for at least six coming months.
Cheers :D
