I know a book called "Marhamat" that is said to be more effective than other books. As far as I remember the explanations are in English. A Japanese and Korean friends of mine were using the book as a course book. It includes a workbook as well. I am not sure about if it is provided with any CDs or cassettes.
The book is available in the Chorsu Language Center. I guess you need to be in Tashkent to get it.
My personal opinion after looking through the course book was that it is based on grammar. As it is newly written many foreigners seem to be using it. I have not taught using this book so I do not know about its effectiveness personally.
Sorry that I do not remember the author's name.
Good luck in learning Uzbek!
Any other ideas? Anything that you could get if you can't go to Tashkent? I need all the hlep I can get!

ArashArcher,
I know you need an Uzbek language book for beginners. I have not find any yet. I find the following site a bit helpful at least when there is no other method.
It is said that this website offers a service to find language exchange partners. Some people from Uzbekistan are offering their help in teaching Uzbek in exchange to learn English.

You can find english-uzbek dictionaries that are okay. They have textbooks too- but they are usually for very advanced. The link Mo'jiza they gave for verb conjugation is very good. I think most books for Uzbek are in Tashkent.:(
