Hey Guest...
my friend told me that she had a boom-box in Tashkent that was made in US, she just remade the plug and it worked. I don't know the details though(like where she's done that), but I can check later....

Hi,
I do not know for sure, but, I was told that you can get pal secam TV, VCR and even unlocked GSM phones in New York, and prices are really cheaper than in Uzbekistan.

I am not sure about this, so, can anybody from NY comment on this. Pleaseeeeeeeeeez.

Thanks.

For the silly question - silly answer:

VCRs: You can buy a multi function VCR which supports all systems of the world. An adaptor whould be also a good idea, because as far as I know US voltage and plugs are different from those in Uzbekistan.

Mobiles: You had better check the GSM standard and buy the one which is in Uzbekistan (of course if you intend to use it in Uzbekistan).

TV: it is true that not all TVs work properly in Uzbekistan, the reason not necessarily being the different voltage but rather the wave length and the antenna. Western TVs broadcast at least stereosounds, as well as recent innovations like Sony Nikam and Dolby Surround systems. (U nas v Uzbekistane do sih por dopotopnaya sistema monosound). So check this point too.

Good luck!

Hi
Though some of you think that the question is silly yet it is very practical. As to the input voltage difference - nothing is simpler! My guess at least. You can easily 'rewind' the internal voltage transformer or buy 110/220 amplifier in Tashkent. Any TV/Radio repair center can easily do that for you in less than a day and it should not cost you much.
Facts are based on personal experience!
Thanks!
