U.N voted on imposing new sanctions on Talebans. Poor afgani people, they are not responsible for Talebans action but they the ones who are suffering from that. I do not like U.N it is just extension of U.S. that allows U.S. to control world. People there are starving, and humanitarian help was the only hope. Now they don't have even that. I compeletely agree with what Annan said" It is not going to facilitate peace efforts, nor is it going to facilitate our humanitarian work,''

Hey guys,

Please, do not listen so much to the Taleban rhetoric. THe resolution is not about afgani people. THis resolution prohibits any sales of arms, ammunition, military equipment, spare parts to military equipment. Also, it asks UN members who recognized Taleban to reduce Taleban embassies to the most possible minnimum, as well as close the Areana Airlines offices. Also, the resolution demands to freeze all of the Taleban's accounts abroad and those of Usama bin Laden. Member-states are asked to restrict movement by Taleban officials abroad. THe resolution asks Taleban to extradict Usama bin Laden in return for the above restrictions.

THe political meaning of the Resolution is that US is sending a message to Pakistan demanding to stop all of its cruel activities in Afghanistan. Also, this is a drift in relations b/w US and Pakistan and Russia's small victory, since the initiator of the resolution was Russia and US was dragged latter into the club of propogators.

Tsone-jone and TOvarish Bush, either I am a complete idiot that I don't see any harm to Afghani people or there is no harm that this resolution will cause to afghanies. Do those poor peasants use arms or ammunition to cultivate their fields, do they drive military jeeps and BTR, do they fly jet-fighters, do they need spare parts for their military jeeps, BTR and jet-fighters? Listen, I think NO. Ok, you can say that those poor afghanies may fly Areana Airlines to Pakistan. Well, they DON'T! The have no money.

Also, why Afghanistan should be an exception to International Law and custom. All of the countries are obliged to extradict criminals, why don't they do so. As to me, the resolution is too mild. What is needed is something harsher, like Desert Storm. Alas, Afghanistan is not as important as Persian Gulf area, and what's going on there is likely to continue to go on for many years ahead.

Take care guys and listen less to those salvages from accross Amudaria.
