They are almost impossible to get in touch via email or phone... The only way I got to talk to a live person was by psychically walking to the consular section during the working hours...

Just curious. The consulate staff have never seemed to be effective in my case.

Well I worked for tons of non-profits and attend embassy functions a lot... So i had met them before and I think that helped... Plus I am a US citizen and it was regarding getting a Uzbek visa and the guy, knock on wood, was nice... I have to get it renewed soon and hope they will be as curtious...

I wish the Embassy in DC was authorized by Tashkent to renew passports and exit visas without having to travel to Tashkent. I heard that the Kyrgyz Embassy does that.
At least they could add pages to the passport for visas like they do it in US.

Having read some of the stories about Uzb embassy in USA, I feel like making a suggestion to those of our countrymen who will decide that is worthwhile of carrying it out.
Given such inexcusable and poor services of the US embassy staff, why not putting such complaints in writing and sending them to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. You could also send cc a copy of the letter to the State Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan. I am inclined to believe that there will be investigations made in the Ministry and necessary sanctions taken, at least for some changes to take effect. Bearing in mind that MFA's personnel tend to keep daggers against colleagues out of envy, I am sure the law of competition, albeit perverse in this sense, will prevail...
If you are concerned about your security or retaliations, you could get your American or non-Uzbek friends to sign the letter.
Alternatively, my dear brothers in USA, you could carry on posting your complaints on this forum, thus reducing symptoms of stress and leaving the causes of it idling at the expense of taxpayers' money;)

Very good, but nevertheless, fruitless idea.I have tried to bring this issue to the attention of ministry authorities.I do not think any good will come out of it.We will just have to suck it up and deal with those shitheads, thank god we do not have to deal with them on a daily basis.

I dont know why, but i never failed to talk to them on the phone. Every time i called they picked up. But true i made 5 to 10 calls every time. They made it clear on their web site what times r best to call. also keep in mind that they get busy at that time, so call as early as possible.
luck

yeah thats right!
even when you go to shopping you will deal with the traffic. first you check traffic than go!
when you call to the bank you may stay on hold if they are busy, why Uzb embassy has to sit and wait for your call?

Bu yerda odamlar ularni telefonga javob berishiga nisbatan emas balki sizning ishingizni tez va sifatli qilib bajarishmaganligi uchun shikoyat qilyapti.Yani biror bir ish bilan murojat qiling ishni shupirgi bog'lash qilib tashlashadi.

It helps when you personally know someone working there. You may even get spoiled by calling the "elchi" himself, if you have the right links. Ask around, maybe you'll find a friend of a friend of a friend who knows somebody. ;) Bu yog'i o'zbekchilik...
When I was getting some docs done for my baby, one day they called me at 9pm. I was surprised that they (at least the guy who sits in front) was working that late. But he was very helpful and sincere, he called to let me know why it was taking a little longer than expected. Isn't it sweet?
Good luck.

Well, what else are they doing there? They have something better to do than work with uzbek citizens? I that was the whole purpose of a consul. :D Otherwise they are just people who were sent to the US to hang out. Not a bad job if you can get it. The only problem is when people try to annoy you to do your job.
