Uyghur is a Turkic language with about 10 million speakers mainly in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, and also in Afghanistan, Australia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Turkey, the USA and Uzbekistan.
The name of this language is variously spelt Uyghur, Uighur, Uygur, Uigur, or 维吾尔语 (Wéiwú'ěryǔ) in Chinese. Uyghur is the prefered name.
Uyghur was originally written with the Orkhon (http://www.omniglot.com/writing/orkhon.htm) alphabet, a runiform script derived from or inspired by the Sogdian (http://www.omniglot.com/writing/sogdian.htm) script, which was ultimately derived from the Aramaic (http://www.omniglot.com/writing/aramaic.htm) script.
Between the 8th and the 16th century, Uyghur was written with an alphabet derived from Sogdian. Unlike Sogdian, which was written from right to left in horizontal lines, this Uyghur alphabet was written from left to right in vertical columns, or in other words, it was a version of Sogdian rotated 90° to the left.
From the the 16th century until the early 20th century, Uyghur was written with a version of the Arabic alphabet known as 'Chagatai'. During the 20th century a number of versions of the Latin and Cyrillic alphabets were adopted to write Uyghur in different Uyghur-speaking regions. However the Latin alphabet was unpopular and in 1987 the Arabic script was reinstated as the official script for Uyghur in China.

Transliteration

Hey, péqir uyghur, oyghan, uyqung yéter,
Sende mal yoq, emdi ketse jan kéter.
Bu ölümdin özengni qutqazmisang,
Ah, séning haling xeter, haling xeter.
Translation

Hey, poor Uyghur, wake up, you have slept long enough,
You have nothing, what is now at stake is your very life.
If you don't rescue yourself from this death,
Ah, your end will be looming, your end will be looming.

UEY: Uyghur Ereb Yéziqi (Arabic Uyghur — post 1982 spelling)
UKY/ULY: Uyghur Kompyutér Yéziqi (Romanised Uyghur—originally developed for computer use in 2001, increasingly recognised as the new standard romanisation. It is also called ULY -- Uyghur Latin Yéziqi since 2004.)
USY: Uyghur Slawyan Yéziqi (Cyrillic Uyghur, used in the former Soviet Union).

The virtual USY and UEY keyboards are still available at the old site (http://www.uyghurdictionary.org/ueyunicode/udpsearch.asp). http://www.uyghurdictionary.org/images/help_clip_image004.jpgIf you choose to input your keyword(s) in the Arabic Uyghur alphabet (UEY), first make sure your system is using English as current input method.

Search Optionshttp://www.uyghurdictionary.org/images/dotnetsearchoptions.jpg
Exact / دەل: an exact match of the keyword
Start with / باش: all entries starting with the keyword
End with / ئاخىر: all entries ending with the keyword
Contain / بار: all entries containing the keyword

Search fieldhttp://www.uyghurdictionary.org/images/dotnetsearchbox.jpg
Input the keyword(s) of your choice in the text input box corresponding to the script you have chosen before clicking on the search button. As you input the Uyghur keyword, the dictionary starts suggesting top 15 words that start with the keyword. You can select the keyword from the auto-suggest box. For example, if you want to input «تولۇق ئوتتۇرا مەكتەپ» in UEY, when you enter «تولۇ» all the words that start with «تولۇ» will be displayed in the auto-suggest box.
http://www.uyghurdictionary.org/images/UyghurDictionaryOrgSuggestions.jpg
The rapidity of the auto-suggestion depends on the speed of your internet connection. If the keyword does not appear in the auto-suggest box, it means no results were found. If the keyword you’ve entered does not match anything in the dictionary, try to input your keyword again with a different spelling.
The input language/script keyboard layout changes respectively when you click on the language/script options.
