I do not think so, but I can be wrong. It used to be that people cannot get a licence plate for their cars without SSN but now they changed the rule. Maybe there is smth like that with banks too.

Yes You can open...
Some banks are not required any SS..if they do so, You may request from IRS Tax Number and You may use that: to open all the things You need...

Credit, No. Debit maybe! Banks have new strategies now... in order to well serve anti terrorist actions they are super cautious.

Нет нельзя. Без SSN не получится.

Что касается State ID, то по-моему можно, но как правило, банки просят два документа подтверждающих личность. В догрузку можешь предьявить паспорт или Student ID. А потом тебе само собой дадут дебит карту.

Try to open a regular bank account first.. Once it's done, get a secured credit card, (they always approve it, since it's your money, not theirs). It's same as regular credit card. The only difference is that money is credited from your pocket. Nevertheless, it counts towards your credit history (if needed).
Not all banks provide secured credit cards. Make an inquiry in your local branch.

In general, I agree with SmIlIk - Yes, you can open any bank account w/out SSN, however they require two pieces of ID, which may be in a form of:

By any chance, do you know which banks give out secure credit cards without SSN? It was true about 8-10 years ago, but for now, I doubt that it is still true.

You may get You own credit card, as long as You get Your TaxPayer ID number from the IRS, You can apply for the credit cards, not only that You may get local bank Master/Checking Card to use as debit direct from Your account...later You may apply for the same bank for credit card with $500.00 credit limit, that worth it for time.

meanwhile apply for all the department store cards and gas station cards..

but they need driver license if possible !!! that is must!!

I appreciate the advice. I don't need another credit card, though :) It was just interesting to know which banks give out credit cards without ssn...

on: you can get a credit card without ssn. that's for sure. open a bank account first the apply for it throguh the bank. you should be able to get an offer.

Not everyone knows royal like I do :) He is one incredible person...I see a lot of people disrespecting him in this forum but they do not realize that it takes triple of their personality to make it up to royal :D

uziz aytmokchi u paytlar requirementlar bunchalik stringent bumagan shekilli. SSNsizam DL olishgan. Hozir SSN siz DL berishmiyapti ekan. :)
nelegallar ham vatandoshlarimiz, ular haqida ham qayg'urishimiz zarur!:D

Manam shunaqa dedim. Demak ula ancha oldin olishgan shekilli. Oldin oganlarni manam bilaman, lekin hozi qonun qoidalar ancha strictlashib qolgani uchun mumkin bo'lmasa kerak dedim.
