Best thing to learn and see place in New York city. take Travel Bus from manhattan 7 or 8 ave and 42nds streets , You may see in the city 2 floor buses, like buses in London...wil show You everything in New York city. You may get out and at the same place You may take different bus all day long , in every stop You may go out and take next bus other...for one fee.
Best idea is to avoid New York entirely. :D :D :D

NY da mln dan kop obida va korishga arziydigan muzey, park va kongil ochish joylari hamda obidalari bor. albatta visit qilishga arzidigan dunyodagi eng katta 24/7 gavjum yashidigan shahar.
yashashga kelsak judayam qiyin savol...manimcha NYker bolish uchun tabiatizni ham ozgartrishiz kerak chunki agressive bomasez yashab ketishiz qiyin boladi. thank you yoki please degan sozlar boshqa sharga nisbatan judayam kam ishlatiladi:(
NY lik odamlar yaxshi lekin moshinaga otirishi bilan uladan iflosi bolamaydi. pavarotnik ishlatilmaydi, kesib otish esa odatiy hol.
omo lekin ovqatlaga kelsak gap yoq!
restoranlaru kafeteriyalar(francuz, italian, spanish, turkish.....foodlar) judayam yaxshi hizmat korsatishadi lekin jicha qimmatroq:)
albatta kelib korishga arzigulik sal koproq ca$$ ovosez vasssalom!:)

I join to what everybody above have been saying, also make sure you visit Bodies The Exhibition museum. It's a musuem of real human body, never seen scenario. Some ppl donated their bodies to this museum and you can see muscular system, circulatiry system, nervous system, it's just amazing. Just see the video online and you will kind of have an idea what am I talking about. http://www.bodiestheexhibition.com/intro.html

That exhibit goes to most cities. It was in my city for a long time too. You don't need to go to New York for that.

So far I really enjoyed:
1. Ride on a 'Staten Island Ferry' at night time - I'm sure the ride on a ferry, which takes you to the Statue of Liberty would give the same excitement. First one is for free, the second one I think $11 or $16 (you also get a free admission to a museum)
2. Uzbek cousine in Queens and Brighton Beach (BB itself also for its a little Russia or even little Asia - you find almost anything you need from your 'own'. BUT - kinda dirty, well as the whole NYC, and scary at night time)
3. Broadway (also at night time :) )
4. And the bus ride from Downtown Manhattan up to hmmm, should be 68th ave. or st. (well, long and a nice bus ride - on a busy day time)
I'm sure museums, parks and shows are worth to see.
Oh, and of course I LOVED visiting Islamic Center of NY, which is a mosque at the same time, and which has tones of information on Islam in USA, free arabic and Qur'an courses on weekends as well as nice people.
hmm, just about it.
I'll get back to you with more updated info. right after I get one

Yes, even though there is too noisy and expencive place in Ny city, I think as you do that NY is the best place
I've been the Statue of Libarty, Ellis Island(immigration musem), World Trade center whiche was bombed and Time Square, These places are wonderful, but don't ask how it is Brooklyn NY...I didn't believe I was walking in its streets when I have been two days in there(Brooklyn)

Negadir 9/11dan keyin Amerikaga qiziqishim pasaygan.Borsam ham tabiati uchun katta-katta parklari, daryo-ko'llariga qiziqsam kerak.NY wa shunga o'xshash katta shaharlarga uncha qiziqish yo'q.
