Please share your ideas, what do you think could Russian special forces do better to save the hostages?

They had to negotiate with them and give what they want -"freedom"
Without negotiating, they just killed all the ones who existed in the Theator with their poisoneus gas.
Russians never want peace, they do not negociate. Remember Dudayev, Aslan Mashadov, Pesidents of Chechnya. They were the only people who could be helpfull to establish peace and to unarmour different freedom fightors. But instead of negociating, Russia acted worse than animal, And here we go=> Endless war!
PS:This kind of Politics is much more dirty than you expect ;)

Mazlum, please bear in mind that General Dudaev was the first to start killings of innocent people in the parliament of Chechnya and use arms and military to achieve his own political goals. The bastard was the sole reason for war in Chechnya. If not for him, Chechnya would be in the same position now as Ingushetia, Tatarstan and others southers regions of Russia.
Go to the first days of Dudaev's reign and see what he did to then government of Chechnya. And General Dudaev chose to start a war with federal government rather than resign from his self-proclaimed presidency of Chenchya.
Now, I do not condone Russian government either - Eltsin was a complete asshole and didn't care about innocent people dying. All he cared was his power in Kremlin (integrity of Russia being one of prerequisites)
The only thing I agree with you: politics is indeed much dirty than many think.

Indeed everyone judges this event based on their source of info. But knowadays it is had to diffenciate them.
Still many questions(as Kipchak had already mentioned), regarding above mentioned event, BESLAN and etc, are remaining open.

They (chechens) knew, they would never get their "freedom". So, this act was already useless and they knew, that russian FSB will atack the theatre in any case. It means they knew that a lot of peope would die. So what the hell they went to this theatre?
The same shit happened in Beslan.

Well, in fact every terroristic act committed recently is questionable, for the same reasons you explained. There are always questions and uncertainty. I am pretty sure that some governments use it as a tools to achieve their goals.

The measures used for "terrorists" in Nord-ost costed many innocent lives. I think they could solve that problem with less lost of lives...but territorial integrity of Russia...officials of russia won't let it be cracked down even if it costs whole lives of chehcen nationality
