I know a fella from london who's mum came to England as a visitor quite a while ago, they were in my town later. AFAIK, there shouldn't be any problem for her to apply for uk visitor's visa In Tashkent. Make sure your studies are well papered, in case your mother wants to reason her coming to visit you in the UK. Supply her with your place of study papers, hope she will get it soon.

it's no prob at all. My mother visited me, didn't have any probs gaining visa, easy.
What you need are: paper from your school, place to live, she may live with you, signed by landlord or your school campus, suffcient amount of money in your bank account, in that case you provide bank statement (£2000-3000 would be all right), and prepare a letter to embassy in Tashkent that you take all responsibilites while she is here blah blah blah, keep it simple.;)

lyalyapo quyidagilar mening onamni va hotinimning opasini bizga yordam berish uchun chaqirganizdan qolgan ozgina experinece:
1) haqiqatan ham hojayiningiz nomidan qilganimnigz yahshi.
2) Onangiz uzbekistonda bazi hujjatlarni tayyorlashi kerak,
a) turar joydan spravka, bolalari haqida spravka, siz va boshqa farzandlari passportida bo'lishi kerak.
b) ishlaydigan bo'lsa ish joyidan harakteristika, i spravka unpaid otpusk haqida, masalan 6 oyga, yoki kamroq.
c) agar visa va samolyot biletiga sizlar pul jonatadigan bo'lsangiz, oshaning proof'i, masalan men hat yozganimda men hammasini ozim qoplayman deganman, va ularning qolida bank transfer, yoku western union receipt bo'lgan application topshirishda.
d) u yerda Uzbekiston havo yollari bilan uchib keladigan kuni uchun bilet bronirovat qilishi kerak, osha bron ticketni application form bilan jonatadi.
endi sizlar tarafdan kerak boladigan documentlar, requirementlar.
1)Hozir pochta orqali jonatilgani uchun hamma documentlarning originallarini dhl orqali jonatishga togri kelishi mumkin ( onam kirganda interview bolar edi, men bir kun oldin hamma documentlarni bu yerdan fax qilganman, togri British embassy'ga), buni ularga tel qilib bilsangiz eng yahshi.
2) sizlarning turar joyingiz eng kamida two bedroom bolishi kerak. Buning uchun landlorddan hat oling, haqiqatan uy two bedroom, va onasining kelib birga turishi uchun barcha imkoniyatlar bor degan.
3) Hojayinigizning ish joyini tasdiqlaydigan hujjatlar, masalan kontrakt, va ohirgi uch oylik wage sliplar.
4) bank schetingizda haqiqatan ham hamma harajatlarni qoplaydigan pul borligini korsatishingiz kerak, bu ham song uch oylik bank statementlar.
5) hozir midwife'larni korayotgan bo'lishingiz kerak, yoki ulardan, yahshirogi GP'ingizdan, sizning due dateni confirm qiladigan hat olasiz.
6) onangiz uchun vaf non-settelement visa application toldirish kerak: http://uk.sitestat.com/fcoweb/ukvisas/s?ukvisas.kfile.home.how_howtoapply.how_appsandgui dance.VAF1_-_October_2006_pdf&ns_type=pdf&ns_url=[http://www.fco.gov.uk/Files/kfile/VAF1%20-%20October%202006.pdf], mening maslahatim sizlar toldirib, jonatsangizlar boladi, faqat onangiz qol qoyishi kerak, va rasm.
7) hojayiningizning passport'ining photocopy'lari.
8) marriage certificatelaringiz, original.
9) Maslahatim, shu yerda yoki uzbekiston hamma documentlaringizning photocopy'sini olib application bilan birga jonatish, shunda elchihonadagilar photocopylarni olib qolib, sizlarga originallarini jonatadi, agar jonatmasangiz, ular photocopy'sini ozlari olishmaydi.

yana boshqa savollar bo'lsa bemalol sorayvering, iloji boricha document tayyorlashga ham yordam berishga harakat qilaman, haligacha yozgan hatlarim, to support application, turibdi.

I've faught with three of my banks over the charge they levied from my account for the period of 2003-2006. Got my charges refunded from Halifax, Alienece & Leicester and waiting forward to win over Barclays too. In total, I got 128 GBP out of 208 GBP i was charged.

Share with us, if you've ever been charged on your Bank Account, Credit Card for overdraft, insufficient money to clear the cheque, failed payment for credit cards, etc. There is way out to get all your money sorted, don't let the banks keep your money. Claim fair treatment. Also, fix your credit history of all banks records holding unfairly. PM me if you are interested.

dear all,

would need a bit of help. Sister wants to come to visit me in UK, i have all the relevant documents being packed. She will be in UK for 10 days initially, I am taking the responsibility of her place of living and living expenses when she is visiting , and her husband is paying for ticket & travel cost. currently, i am working on documents package, what are the essential parts?

do i have to send my bank details (eg bank statements) to the british embassy? shall i write any letter to embassy, if yes, what should it look like? what additional documents should be submitted to the embassy that make process smoother?

has anyone yet invited their siblings, or parents and how was it?

You advice, comments & any info would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Guardian, please read my posts in this thread, regarding lyalyapo's invitation, they list the documents needed for application.
Your sister, the first obvious question is, why is she coming, and is she going to go back to UZ after visiting you(asked by the consul). If you can answer these questions with no problems, you should prepare documents accordingly, showing strong evidence that she is definetely going back to UZ.
I know some people who came on a visitor visa (having families in UZ) but never went back.

I use PayAsYouGo tariff, because I make few calls, and also the O2 is refusing to put me on a monthly tariff.

There are cheap contract available from O2, where you get unliminted Skype talk time, or even unlimited call-time to any phone in Uzbekistan between 6pm and 6am.

what utality providers do you use?

we've been using british gas for home gas and edf energy for electricity. spending a bit too much on the bills. also, virgin media as tv-broadband-phone deal is ripping around 108 GBPs per month from it's avarage customer as me.

what are the best providers, please share.

You must be trying really hard :) if you are paying £108 for virgin media. I am on Virgin Media as well, but never paid more than £40 a month. What plan are you on? I am on 3for30 TV, Broadband and Landline.

I think it is better to use one provider for gas and electricity, because most of them offer discounts for using both. And they give some additional discounts for paying your bills by direct debit.

Guardian, i also don't understand why you pay so much for virgin media?
I have 4mb broadband, phone line with evening and weekend free calls, tv XL size and pay 35 pounds a month + around 25-30 pounds for the telephone calls (99% to uzbekistan).
I think you should give them a call, when you call 150 ask them for a free customer service number, which should be 0800 something, then negotiate, that's how i got mine ( i have around 27 pounds discount on total)

hh
P.S. Looking forward for the 20 mb broadband, but the upload speed is still very low (784 kb i think).

Akajon,

I've phoned them and asked to be referred to the retention department. Threatened them to leave if they don't better off my package. Got the tv M package, broadband and free evening and weekend calls all for 26 pounds. :D but the boys at home use phone excessively and we are paying about 120-130 pounds for calls. :(

PS. I learned how to do it from Martin Lewis's webpage. :)

If you are paying for the phone using 1p/min then as long as everybody pays you must be happy.
It is not virgin media, that is creating you those bills, but yourselves.
I don't htink changing a provider will lower your bills, unless you limit yourselves on calls.

That is the best deal yet I have heard. A friend in London said she was calling home directly and for free, and I could merely believe it, she was right then!

There is another deal on Carphone Warehouse where you contract for AOL's 19 GBP/ a month and get a Dell laptop for free. Contract is for 24 months.

If you can use Internet telephone (VoIP) there are pay as you go schemes.

Uzbekistan landline is quite expensive with Orbtalk, but look at Uzbekistan mobile phone, it's 8.5 p/minute or look at Russia.

http://www.orbtalk.co.uk/images/Jan_2007_rates.pdf

We use the hardware solution, self-contained Ethernet phones that you connect directly into your router (connected to your cablemodem). Such a phone costs around £ 50 but you can use also software solutions. It's like Skype.

You get also a phone number free of charge if you are pay as you go customer. It's a local UK number and you can chose the city. So you can have a London number, i.e. 020 xxx, if you live in Manchester, e.g.

There also people in India who have a local UK number with their account. So if someone calls their Manchester UK number, their VoIP phone in India is ringing and the caller in the UK pays only the local UK tarriff and maybe he thinks the callee is in Manchester.

It has also voice mail free of charge. When in India the phone is off-line because their cablemodem is switched off they'll get an email with a *.wav file of the recorded voicemail.

Orbtalk to Orbtalk is always free.

We are with Orbtalk.co.uk and VoIP.co.uk.

There are many others but often the local UK number is not free with those.

Bad thing with AOL is that you'll have to use AOL's Explorer (previously known as AOL browser) and no other browser works with their broadband. I don't really like it.

In Moscow for ur budget one can purchase brand new and high perfomance laptops of FS and Toshiba. They have 1024 MB up to 2 GB Memory, 80-120 HDD, Wi-Fi, 3,5 h of work with battery, powerful graphics, and etc.

Why I have chosen these two brands is definitely I know their capacity at practice as I have a FS at home and Toshiba at my office. I can tell you these brands do really meet my and my colleagues requirements either at work and home. Furthermore, they are worth of price&quality.
