I'm heading back this winter for roughly 40 days. And my passport is expiring in Feb 27, 2007. So obviously I have to renew my visa. Since my visa will be renewed I'm guessing I'll have to enter the US embassy again to renew my current F-1 visa. Then apply for OVIR exit visa. And in the meantime get married :)
I just want to know if it is doable. Has anyone gone through Passport/Visa/Ovir renewal? Thanks all.

I know I really don't want to enter US embassy either, because the outcome is not guaranteed to be positive. I wouldn't have to enter US embassy if I could get a Uzbekistan exit visa (OVIR) on my current visa.
1) Is it possible to get a exit visa (OVIR) on a passport which as 1 month of validity?
2) Assume I got the exit visa (OVIR) will it be an issue to enter US on a passport with 1 month of validity?
If I can avoid going into the US embassy the rest is doable I believe. I'm waiting for your suggestions. Thank you all.

Go there earlier and tell them you lost your passport. But when you go to US Emb, show it and visa in it. Otherwise there is not enough time.
In your case i would not risk that much

JUST,
you can enter US even if your visa is valid for one day.Remember, visa is just a ticket to enter the country,it does not guarantee your entrance. If you have your I-20 form and can prove that you are at school, you will have no problem entering the country.
In your case,it will be better to get your OVIR visa, come back into the country and then renew your passport here in the US.But remember that it's not going to be easy to renew it in the US.
I guess it's less painful than going thru the hassle of getting a new visa.
But you should not be afraid of reapplying for a new visa,in most cases,US embassy will issue a visa refill,it's not that you are applying the first time.

Indeed forex_dealer, that's exactly what I was thinking. However I just heard from some of my friends that OVIR (exit visa) is only issued to a person whose passport will be at least valid for 6 months. Whereas in my case I'll only have 1 month left when I'll be applying for OVIR (exit visa). This is what I would like to fverify, whether OVIR has any rules regarding the passport validity duration prior to application. I would think it would be possible if I find the right man, but I'd rather not take any chances.
I know in most cases US embassy grants visa, but ocasionally I hear odd cases where despite of all the supporting documents the applicant gets rejected. I am just trying to find a less riskier alternative then just walking into an Embassy.
Worst come to worst I will have to go and apply for visa renewal and hope things go smoothly. Thanks for the advices everyone.

I don't think you'll have problems entering US.
BUT, I'd suggest you talk to your advisor first. As far as I know, once your passport expires, you're out of your F-1 status.

JUST,
as far as I remember the 6 month rule applies to US visas. In other words, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months when you apply for US visa.As for exit visas,I really do not think it should be a problem. You can find it out before you even go back home.Just ask somebody and have it arranged.
Also,Reaper might have a point, you may get out of status once your passport expires,so you should take some precautions as to renewing your passport here in the US.It takes at least two to three months to get it renewed.
Our consulates like to take their time when it comes to time sensitive matters. So you might want to meet your International Advisor and make sure you will be in status once you come back from Uzbekistan.
All in all,it will be much better if you get a new visa on your new passport because you will be able to travel. You will have to do it one way or another, unless you want to be trapped in the US.

Ok, thanks for the heads up regarding the possible status violation. I'll check it with my advisor.
So I'll have to get the exit visa arranged. Understood :)
As for being trapped in the USA, I think it shouldn't be a problem. Since I'll be graduating in May and getting a job inshallah. I'll have to leave the country anyways for getting H-1B visa.
