Hello, dear students, professionals and every member of this forum. Please post quotations that somewhat relate to busines world or managing business.
These quotations could be in any field of business, for example, accounting, finance, management, economcs, marketing, and etc.
Please, try to keep this thread strictly for business, therefore, when someone wants to read the quotes they get new principles, methods, ideas and insights.
I thought about naming the thread "smart business quotations", but everyone defines smart differently.
Examples of the quotes could be Murphy's Law, Pareto Principle, Nash Arbitration, and etc.
Don't forget to include the author, to say the least. You are welcome to provide a link to find the quote
P.S. If you have your own, don't hesitate to post, please.
Thank you
& good luck

"Worldly wisdom teaches that it is better for reputation to fail conventionally than to succeed unconventionally" - John Maynard Keynes
Not exactly a quotation, but a little story:
THREE ENVELOPES
A fellow had just been hired as the new CEO of a large high tech corporation. The CEO who was stepping down met with him privately and presented him with three numbered envelopes. "Open these if you run up against a problem you don't think you can solve," he said.
Well, things went along pretty smoothly, but six months later, sales took a downturn and he was really catching a lot of heat. About at his wit's end, he remembered the envelopes. He went to his drawer and took out the first envelope. The message read, "Blame your predecessor."
The new CEO called a press conference and tactfully laid the blame at the feet of the previous CEO. Satisfied with his comments, the press -- and Wall Street - responded positively, sales began to pick up and the problem was soon behind him.
About a year later, the company was again experiencing a slight dip in sales, combined with serious product problems. Having learned from his previous experience, the CEO quickly opened the second envelope. The message read, "Reorganize." This he did, and the company quickly rebounded.
After several consecutive profitable quarters, the company once again fell on difficult times. The CEO went to his office, closed the door and opened the third envelope.
The message said, "Prepare three envelopes."

This a slogan used in the workplace of a Chinese company.
"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.
The moral:
It doesn’t matter if you are a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you better be running."
In other words, keep working and innovating, otherwise you will lost your business.
