Hello, everybody!
Got a question here: I'm about to get an immigrant visa, but I'm not planning to stay in US for now, just go there to visit for about 5 weeks and return, cause I'm leaving my son here. I have a temporary visa, and I know that getting a permanent one will take a long time. SO, the question is: can I leave with my temporary exit visa and come back with no problem, or do I HAVE to get a permanent one and get ПМЖ?
Thank you in advance!

If you are visiting US only for 5 weeks, you should have no problems going back with your temporary exit visa.Besides, you still have your Uzbek passport, correct?(I am assuming you are a citizen of Uzbekistan).
You will, however, have problems when you become a US citizen. That's when you will have to acquire permanent exit visa.
hope this helps.

If your son is under 18, I am not sure that you can get permanent one. Another problem, if you get permanent one you will never get the permanent registration(propiska) in case if you decide to come back, even if you have your own property.

Yes, I'm an Uzbek citizen and I don't plan on becoming US citizen at least for a while. So, you're saying I should have no problem and can just leave with my current visa then? I was just worried that they won't let me out of the country if I have an immigrant US visa and a temporary exit one.Thank you for the information!

That's another thing I was worried about. So I guess, I'm better off with my current exit visa then. Thanks!

Hey, all, thank you for answering me in the previous thread, I have another question : If I am going to get a green card in US, do I have to get permanent exit visa and "выписка" here before I do that?
P.S.: I am not planning on applying for US citizinship , just going there to get a green card for now and coming back in 5 or 6 weeks.

Keep in mind that if you decide to come back to Uzbekistan and stay more than 6 months you may loose your green card. Also, no one can guarantee that you will get your GC within five weeks
Why don't you take your son with you to US?

Your exit visa (the one you recieved from the embassy) is valid for 6 months. Whatever you want to do during that time is your business. Just make sure not to violate rules of GC. As for entering and exiting US; have valid OVIR, valid passport and your green card in tact, that's all you need.

SMLK I guess she is talking about exit viza of Ovir - temporary for 2 years and permanent. otherwise questions do not make sense.
Creaon, the option forex dealer suggested is the best thing to do. So better leave it as it is.

Thank you :) Now I get the picture!
You do not want to get "vipiska" from Uzb authority if you want to go back to UZB. Just keep your 2 year OVIR recent for all times.

No guarantees that you will receive your plastic card in 5 or 6 weeks whatsoever.I know people who have waited over a year,USCIS is messed up right now.Stamp in your passport will be sufficient, but again, there are a lot of stupid officers at ports of entry who may not understand what the stamp means. Our uzbek officials may even want you to show them a stamp translated into Uzbek or Russian;)

That's what they told me at the embassy : Getting a green card will take about 45 days, so, I don't know... As for my son- it's complicated: My son's biological father is an American, but he is out of picture completely. My husband has given his name to my son, and he told the truth to the embassy, and they told us that we shouldn't have done that- my son can't have my husband's name on his birth certificate, and suggested we should change the birth certificate. When we tried to do that at ZAGS, they refused (even for money) , so right now we're stuck here with this birth certificate. The only way out it for teh natural father to claim his paternity, but he's difficult to reach and to be convinced to do so... Any ideas?

I have one :) That means you can have one, too. Having an american Green Card doesn't mean that you are an american citizen. You are still a citizen of Uzbekistan. Which gives you a right to keep your uzbek passport and OVIR. FYI, I got my card by mail in 3 weeks...
forex_dealer, if she won a lottery at the embassy they issue temporary Diversity Visa valid for 6 months. So, she can travel with that Visa for up to 6months no questions asked.

Then whenever the need for me to be in the US i will go there. My question is: WHen i leave the US, does the US government know that i left there country? Do they stamp my passport when i leave US airport?
