Dear fellow Umidies,
For a brief period of time, I would like to draw your attention to Umid's Insurance policy presented by UzAIG. Most of us must have grabbed an insurance card, yellow piece of paper accompanying the card, and terms of agreement and description of policy, while leaving the Umid office last summer. Little later the policy was updated. The authorities have sent us renewed version of policy terms.
Are you all following me so far?
OK, recently one of my friends had to use the "privileges" granted by that insurance policy. And he and me are confused, if do we need to cover first $100 or $500 of total expense. The service cannot be any worse; the simple awkward thing can be explained by the absence of toll-free #, or any office in the US. Only phone # of AIG's office in Moscow and Paris reads on the card. You guys know Russians ... . I talked to representatives 3 times already, all three times they failed to provide me with adequate information. Don't know what to do. :(
Once talked with higher rank person in AIG, he informed me that the "franshiza" is $500 (yeah guys 500 US dollars :)) . If so, my friend is screwed. :(
I think last year insurance policy provided by ACTR, had more advantages and there were less hassle. Don't you?
What you guys know about this issue,
Wish you all Happy New Year and may God never oblige you to use that damned card.
Thanks again for your attention!
regards,

Nasl

I am using an insurance card I got from UMID and covered by Uzbekinvest and ELVIA. The main office of ELVIA is in Paris but the Warsaw office is responsible in my case. My doctor called the office in France and nobody talked french (?) but english, russian and even german (!). Then we waited for a call from Warsaw and so far everything is working good. Today, they called me and asked how I was feeling, etc. together with when and what and how much questions about my treatment.
They promised to pay everything i.e. for medicine to my account and for the doctor directly to the doctor ('s account). Well, it is of course time consuming but ... I decided to use this card.

This is my little exprerience with ELVIA so far.

Hi guys, recently I had to see a doctor so I tried to use my insurance card to pay my possible medical bills. Based on my own experience I can state that there is just one problem with our insurance policy; we have to pay the first $500 ourselves, that's it. I called Paris and Moscow offices several times and they were very helpful. They kept in touch with me via phone calls and e-mail to help me to get medical service that I needed.
Guys, if you need medical service then do the following:
1. Contact Moscow office and get the list of doctors in your area and make an appointment with one of them.
2. After seeing the doctor pay all charges up to $500. If there is need for complex medical treatment that will cost you more than $500 then contact Moscow office and arrange the payment.
Don't get nerveous about paying first $500 because we have to pay it according to the policy.

OK,
so then $500 bux needs to be ripped off from our already-empty pockets.
cheeez, oh boy :(
I talked to the agent in Moscow office and asked her to provide me with the list of eligible hospitals, and she said that it was a question of my choice.
That is about it,

Hey Nasl,
How come you are using insurance card of UMID covered by "Uzbekinvest and ELVIA". I thought everyone else got their cards pulled by UzAIG?
Thanks, just wondering ;)

Admiral,

I do not know why I use this card and all others use UzAIG card. A friend of mine was asked by UMID staff to give it to me. I was also informed that the money I was getting for my insurance together with my scholarship will not further be paid out . So, I stopped my old insurance agreement and moved to using Uzbekinvest and ELVIA insurance service. That's all about it:).
