the best way is to get contract from O2 (around 1000 mins a month off-peak) and use the numbers Jaminator quoted. Another one with very good connection is 08445668585. Just remember that you might get charged if you use 0871 number on O2. 0844 and 0870 numbers are free. For example: if you have 1000 mins offpeak time (wich is gonna cost you around Ј25), you can call home from 7.00 PM till 7.00 AM 30 mins a day. But you will be having difficulties calling mobiles, for them you'll need one of the 0871 numbers.

what i used to do is:
go to nearest off-license and buy 3 eastern europe call card for tenna, each gives you 120 minuts of talk time. 3 cards 360 minutes
and you have landline number wich starts 020 bla bla bla
and free number 0800 wich you can use in any smelly phonebooth

so u can work it out urself how much it costs per minutes

does anyone use calling cards to call uzbekistan. please share your experience. a friend of mine is using the card [called "lucky!"] and says he is missing minutes for no reasons recently.

Personally, these days I'm using "EuroTel", it costs about 2,5 quid and having connection with Uzbekistan about 60 minutes of talk.
Though, it says you have 110 minutes blah blah and etc, it's a bull s**t.
The most of cards never gives exact amount of remaining minutes as it appears.
I used to use "Lucky" phone cards, honestly they are rubbish, connection is dreadfully poor and barely you reach destination number.

Further, one of the advantages of "EuroTel" cards, as I've got monthly inclusive minutes with O2, access number starts with 02 or 01 Landline numbers, unlike other phone cards starting with 08 xxxxxxxxx numbers which obviously charges.

And one thing, if you going to call Mobile Number in Uzbekistan try to call through Land line code, what I mean is, for instance MTS Uzbekistan number +998 97 337 XX XX instead of 97 use Landline code number 71, they'll put through to mobile number anyway.

I don't know others, but that's my experience.

EUROTEL единственная дешевая карточка которая не кидает сильно и наглым образом (нет daily maintainance charges, connection charges, и прочих кидаловских хитростей)
самый дешевый вариант на сегодня по моему опыту следуюшее:
1. достаете sim карту от o2 pay-as-you-go
2. устанавливаете тариф Favorite Place (min top-up £10 / month) и получаете бесплатных 500 мин (вкл landline 02x/01x)
3. приобретаете карточки EUROTEL (они стоят 4 за £9.00-9.50 или 1 за £2.50 смотря где и сколько покупаете:) - 1 карточка всреднем дает реально 60 мин разговора (хотя и хвастается 107-127 минутами).
4. Набираете один из любых landline номеров дозвона благо из несколько (если не получется из лондона, попробуйте глазго или бирмингем) и разгавориваете пока карточка невсплачет "you have 30 sec left".
5. если не получается дозвонится до мобильника через городской номер, то наберите мобильный код доступа (например для Uzbek telecom (skytel) в Самарканде лучше набирать 95 вместо кода города 66:)
Если умеренно разговаривать (1 раз в неделю) то 4 карточек в месяц будет достаточно.
Всего это будет вам обходиться в £19-20 / месяц (вкл 4 карточки + топ-ап для O2)
Единственное ограничение звонить можно только с одного места (пост-кода - т.е. вашего дома)
