Well, these similarities are based on the fact that both languages are influenced strongly by Arabic and Persian languages.

Agar- Persian.
Mehmon- Persian.
Khudo- Persian.
Dil- Persian.
Devona- Persian.
Muhabbat- Arabic. (in the contemporary arabic usage- al-hubb الحب)

and so on ...

However, Uzbek and Urdu are completely far from each other languages, they belong to different families.

Similarities between two are almost like similarities between two completely different european languages influenced by Roman or/and Greek language.

Well, origins of Urdu language go back to 12-14 centuries. Specifically, name Urdu comes from turkic Ordu/O'rda (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urdu), ie army. Historically, Urdu lexicography came to be as a mix of primarily Arabic, Persian, Turkic and Hindi languages, though grammar wise it is Hindi. That's why so many similarities in words. This fact stems from the continuous presence of many Persian, Turkic and Afghan peoples over the number of centuries starting from Ephtalites and Kushans, Mamluks and Khaljis through to Tughluqids and Delhi Sultanates and well finally Baburids.
