Fallacy!!!

reader, before posting this link, did you do some research on the author of the article? Or did some research on Dr. Homa Darabi?

How about the credibility of the source? Did you talk to muslim women living in Iraq and varified the source?

Please, don't post such false statements here. I am a muslim, and I did get offended by your attitude :(. Instead of asking that question, why don't you ask us to discuss it? Also we could discuss the credibility of the source... and the fallacies in the article (which is considered a "speech" by Dr. Homa)

Besides they are based on the book "Rage Against the Veil : The Courageous Life and Death of an Islamic Dissident" written by Parvin Darabi, Romin P. Thomson who do not practice islam at all.

Here what a muslim woman thinks about the book?

Baheera Salaam (baheera19@hotmail.com) from Pennsylvania, USA

I am a Muslim women. I have read this book (I got it from mybookstore), I find that while this stuff might of happened to this girl, IT DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ALL Muslim women! when will you people realize that just cuz this stuff happened to a girl in Iran doesnt mean it's happeneing to girls in Morocco *I've lived there* or America, or even all the girls in Iran!!!...ect! (kind alike, just cuz some american girls are being molested by their parents doesnt mean we all are!) Just beacuse we are Muslim doesnt mean our lives are meaningless...I dont understand why people put out these books... The title rage against that veil is a aweful title, all the Muslim women I know, even those that wear the full niqab (face veil) do so out of love for themselves and because it meakes us human beings not sex objects! what is so wrong with a face veil that u have the "rage" against it!?! Also, we women in Islam have RIGHTS! go get urself a Quran and read it and you'll see! Just because a few powerful men in Iran say they are following Islam doesnt make it so!!! Just because they say it's legal to do this and that doesnt make it right in the religion! This book makes me truely angry-I am a Political Science major and wear Hijab (head scarf) and I intend on working in the gov and getting married and having kids and leading a religious lifestyle! I am not held back and infact i am propelled on by my religon and by God! Allahu Akbar!

reader, email her ( baheera19@hotmail.com ) for more information. I am also anticipating her to visit the forum to post a message and join the discussion...

First of all,

Reader, why do you apologize??? Just because someone disagrees??? Don't apologize..you have every right to discuss topics that are of interest to you......

Secondly, Sherzod, you are correct, whoever wrote that article was exagerrating a little bit, perhaps she had very bad personal experiances, especially since Iran has many women in Parliment!!!!!

BUT.....the Koranic edicts she speaks of are very valid...Women ARE considered almost in every way to be worth less than a man....Women are the Property of the Husband...and (this is very unfortunate) the only relationship mentioned in the Quran between a man and woman is the relationship of procreation and Lust..............Name one Surrah in the Quran, one Ayat that mentions Love.....

All these things she said were very accurate....I suggest you read the Quran yourselves if you don't believe me.......Not just the parts you like to read....but the whole thing....

Javanmard,

I agree with your message.

About apology-You never know what exactly can offend some people- "Please, don't post such false statements here. I am a muslim, and I did get offended by your attitude"-SherzodR.

The Most of the things pointed in the article are true. They are showing the reality in some Islamic countries, and the consequences of the Islam religion, its basic rules, other rules and something else.

What about rules? Think they/rules have arisen due to the absence of intelligence, knowledge, or you name it, in human mentality at the time when they/rules were been written. They have been written to systemize and establish an equilibrium society in accordance to the rules of Nature, that's why it says: the only relationship mentioned in the Quran between a man and woman is the relationship of procreation and Lust. These rules have been written for the men and to protect the men (have been written by men? - don't know), from men's weaknesses.

What about Islam? That religion has appeared in Middle East, amongst Arabic speaking population, the last one people can remember in Human being Era. As a religion - it is the most advanced and perfect in many terms, then any other.

What about Islam and the Rules? As far as I remember they have not been written at the same time by the same person. Religion was first, Rules were made up on the way they did suit to those who needed them. Later they were applied to others - lack of brain in others - they became common and applicable in most of the Muslim countries.

What about Nowadays, Islamic Religion and the Rules? Nowadays people are living according to their Religions/believes (which is very personal, I think), Rules do still exist somewhere, but they have a habit to keep changing every time, as soon as writer's interests in something are changing (it's a very human thing).

What about women? They finally realized, and not themselves only, that they have a brain to think, eyes to look, mouth to have voice, and soul to love. The last one I think turns in to one of the basic things in this world, the fundamental one - the one this World does exist based on today.

Do you know why men say: "??????? - ??? ??? ????. ??? ?? ?????? ?????? ????????????; ??? ??????, ? ?? ?????????" ?

Probably it's time to reconsider some society values and change them. Start creating a life, using intuition (a woman) and a brain (a man) in collaboration, with fair treating of each other.

Kind regards,

Ps. Do you know why they don't call a 'rebrishko' instead? Think this is a different issue for another talk.

Your VERDICT is very very wrong.!!!!!

what is wrong with this web-page?
Why we should not trust it?

There is nothing wrong with the webpage......

I hate that fact that the Islamic Zombie squad immediatly say that anybody who disagrees with Islamic practice...does not have enough information.....

We don't need any more information....

Let me give you an analogy.....

A mans wife leaves him, and he goes and takes too much anti stress medication, goes driving and kills a pedestrian. This is an accident. Now what you guys are trying to say is that we should get ALL the information...as to why and how this man did this......

But the only fact necessary is that Pedestrian has been killed......

ie..what I am trying to say is....It does not matter WHY women are treated badly....we don't like women to be treated badly......Period.

We don't want any excuses or explanations....nor do we need them.

No reader , you don't trust it (of course if you are not tooooooooo stupid to trust it).

Do you really want to know arguments? I don't think so. You just want to play your game. And everybody knows it. Thats why none wants to give you his argument. Why? Anyway you are not going to believe it, or accept it. So whats the point to argue on this topic? You say yours and don't change your mind, and neither do others.

Thank you for attention.

let's not get too biased towards Islam, the problem is not in religion, but in education level of people.

Remember some countries in democratic Europe till recent times disregarded rights of women, it was only some 60 years before when women had no right to vote and were regarded lower then men.

Blaming Islam for all misfortunes is lame, any religion improves itself with the progress, new knowledge will better regulate things.

What's now going on in muslim countries is due to lack of necessary education and narrow-minded people.
