It's impossible to dress up officially in the US colleges (mostly).
1)it's uncomfortable to hang around in a nice dress with a huge bagpack; 2)people stare like at an alien :?(at least in my town);
3) confusing: be yourself or "Do as Romans in Rome" ???
Anyway, voted for comfortable.
PS. Official dress is good though

yeah official outfit looks aweful with backpack. :lol: my teachers give extra credit if u come to class dressing up at least business casual. :lol: For exams we have to have official business cloth. In DC it is huge mix. My best friend works and goes to GW. She is always dressed professionally and so are many students there. Of course you can always make it professional and comfortable. These days the definition of professional has changed. Jeans and a cute jacket, fashionable dresses and skirts are very popular. Also when i was in high school and college we all dressed way to cute. All i remember latest trends - not professional but dressy for sure. :D I dont know things in US change from state to state

Agree with the most of the above statements. You cant dress up and wear official while in school with the exeption of job fairs and receptions. So did I for the last two years: jeans, sneakers and a back pack. Could not wait to graduate, get a job and wear hills and suits. Now I dress official during weekdays and put on casual on weekends.

My choice is regular casual, comfortable....but I also like to dress up official. I guess it really depend on what environment I am at.
But even if it is casual-comfortable look, i hate when people look sloppy and messy, like some americans do. Everything has to be ironed and neat. ;)
