Currency Exchange Rates Unification

recently a new resolution was adopted on currency regulation in UZ.

Objectives listed there are liberalisation of currency policy, development of the off-exchange currency market etc. It affects exclusively business not private persons (why?!)

what's the importance of this measure, is it a step to attract foreign investors and to improve relations with the IMF?

Of course it is! It is actually a firm step towards currency liberalistion, although it should be noted that we have still a very long way ahead to reach that...

Looks like the Uzbek government has got now a good source of cash from the US (we all know what for) to step up the currency liberalisation process... :)

well, typically, questions arise after reading that ambigious resolution,

- does that mean any company - manufacturer can have access to that so called off- exchange fx market?

- does that mean mandatory surrender or compulsory selling of 50% of FX revenues to market is lifted?

As far as I understand, we'll continue to have 2 exchange rates - 1. Exchange rate set by Central Bank, 2. Exchange rate in the off- exchange market .

O’zbekistonning IMF bilan a’loqasiga albatta yahsi ta’sir ko’rsatadi. Afsus yarim yilga kech qoldik – Aprel oyida Qozog’iston bilan kelishuvlar bo'ldi. IMFni Uzbekistondagi “kabinet”ida 2ta o’zbek o’tiribdi holos.
Masalani boshqa tomoni Qozog’istonga O’zbekistondan eksport ko’payadi. Ularni bozori katta, tovarlarimizning sifati kamroq bo’sayam narx bilan Qozog’istondegi valyutani obchiqib ketadi. Qozog’iston hozir “zavi’shenniy” kurs ushab turibdi. Bu ikki kurs birlashtirilar ekan umid qilamiz, bu yashi yo’lga qo’yiladi. Turkiyani eslab ko’ring ex-soyuzga eksport qilib qancha valyuta obchiqib ketti. Tashqi qarzlarni qanchasini to’lab olishdi. Qozog’istonning shuncha katta bozorlaridan foydalana olmay qolayotganimizga odam achinayotgan edi.

Guys, as long as they don't cease all restrictions to freely trade FX, nothing is going to change. Look at the black market - it has just neglected the news.
Have you read another smart decree on capping profit margin for basic foodstuff at 25%? I think it was posted in Uzreport. How they are going to control it? People continue to overprice imports of sugar, flour, oil, etc.

Odamlarham shunaqa laqma boladimi... Qanaqa erkin konvertaciya? Uzreportdagi valyuta kurslarga qarang - Rasmiy kursni ozgina kotarib, Kommercheskiy kursni yoq qilib qoyishdi-da. U rasmiy kurs haqiqiy bozordagi kursdan ikki barobar arzonku!!!
